I'm trying to upgrade my lighting setup for my 5.5 gallon reef aquarium in order to promote more rapid coral growth. I was curious if a par38 lamp would be ok for such a small tank, or if there are some other options I should look into. Here is the model I'm thinking about purchasing right now...

My yellow star polyp that I bought two days ago has a really nasty brown coloration right now. It was brilliantly yellow at the store, what could have caused this? Is it just acclimating or is something wrong?

In the water it's completely white, I think the green might just be algae or something. The top part is extremely fragile, to the point where I can't even tell the texture because it just falls apart when I touch it.
