Two questions:
1.) I've noticed that there's been an explosion in the population of copepods and amphipods in my 5 gallon reef tank to the point where the water almost looks dirty because of all of them floating around. Are there any pico tank organisms I could add to reduce this? I wasn't sure whether filter feeders consumed these or not.
2.) I'm not sure if its related, but there has also been a sudden build up of this grimy grey substance on the bottom of my tank and on some of the liverock. I've attached a picture of it, could anybody tell me what it is?
The tank is 3 weeks old and here are my parameters:
Ammonia - 0 ppm
Nitrite - 0 ppm
Nitrate - 0 ppm
pH - 8.0
temperature - 76 F
Also the only inhabitants are a xenia, a montipora and a nassarius snail
