No problem, just check your local laws in some states it's illegal to take aquatic wildlife to keep it in a personal aquarium. If your a fishermen some states will count fish in your aquarium towards your limit.
Since you already know the basics I wont bore you with them. You need a large filter I run no less than double the size of the tank crayfish are very dirty animals. I also read a under gravel filter is a good idea but I just bought one and got it installed so it's a developing story with me...
Yeah I understand I've been there and done that. Unfortunately all but one on my friends were nowhere to be found after my last breakup and it was entirely my fault. I lost my job the girl I loved left me because I had no money left to give. And to make matters worst my fish died. Two months...
Was the take set up with fish before? I have never kept red claw crabs but have kept other invertebrates. If this was set up prior for housing fish and they were medicated maybe some is still lingering. Are you running carbon in your filter? How are you acclimating them?
IMHO I would not chance a tank that big to hold. If it broke you could be out alot of money in repair costs to your home or worse someone could be hurt. The money spent on another tank in good condition is worth the peace of mind to me. But like Ian said wait for some more opinions before you...
I read that if you move him to another tank right after a molt he will be worm free. Then you have to clean everything in the tank really good and then put him back in. The only real problem I see is catching a molt. If you don't get it right away they will just latch on to his new Exoskeleton.
It really depends on what kind of shrimp you want to get. Some like it colder and some like it warmer. I recommend red cherry shrimp or ghost shrimp. They are what's normally kept with Bettas. It's all on your Betta though some are ok with tank mates some are not.
For me it's a %35-%50 PWC once a week with a syphon to vacuum the surface. If my filters are to dirty I'll clean them in the old tank water I vacuum out. I run my fingers though the sand every 2-3 water changes. I use a sponge to clean the inside of the glass when ever its needed.
Look into Crayola play sand it comes in purple, blue, green and pink. I have been using it as my substrate for a couple weeks in a ten gallon tank and have not had any problems. From what I read there were a lot of skeptics but everyone I could find that actually did it said there were no...
It's a bio mechanical filter beneficial bacteria grow on the sponge that convert ammonia to much less dangerous chemicals. Wile the sponge filters out larger debris. There mainly for fry or shrimp tanks I have one in my ten gallon but I'm only going to have shrimp and mts in my tank. I'll have a...
Like stated above Rivercats knows what she is talking about. My mom has had an adult angel fish for years. And Rivercat has described it perfectly. It use to have a small problem with a Cory but not anymore. The angel fish is her favorite fish in the tank it knows her and any time she goes...
Mine eats shrimp pellets I feed him once a day when I wake up. In my opinion you might be feeding yours a bit much. But as long as you take out any uneaten food after a half hour he will be fine.
I like the stance on yours his Head and thorax are higher than the one on mine.
I think it's a Sloan's crayfish (Orconectes sloanii) a couple pictures that come up look kind of like him and one looks dead on like him and that's really all I have ever been able to find on him. There mainly in...
