I started out last week battling cyano. I cut down on the lighting and added flow. I left for two days and now the cyano is worse. I now have 1ppm ammonia, evidently something died over the weekend... I got new zoos last week and some of them are turning clear at the base is this the problem...

It seems to be sand grains in the mechanism, I can take it apart to clean it but it seems to have to be cleaned everyday.

I'm having trouble with sand getting in my pumps and especially my filter and causing the motor to stop, I'm afraid this is going to burn out the motor. I tried using a coarse sponge in the intake, but it seemed to be putting too much stress on the pump. Any ideas? Thanks.

Also, how long are you living in this place? I keep only small easy tanks so that I can move them when I need to. If you are only going to be there a year or two and moving a distance you'll want to go with something smaller that you have a chance of being able to move.

Just a quick reminder, since most of you probably do this. If you want your gloves to last, rinse them off. Salt accumlating on the outside will dry out the material. Also if you live in a arid enviroment store them close to the tank where it'll be a little more humid. Over time the seams...

Whenever I have ordered a fish through my LPS, I can get them to call me as soon as it comes in. Since our stores get fish on monday's I know when to expect the call and I can go pick it up immediately, before they acclimate it. This keeps you from bringing home anything from the LPS's tanks...
