I had a similar problem getting my Pacu out of my tank when I decided to resale him due to size matters. I just bought a heavy duty net, he nearly broke it still, fighting it so much. I don't know what else to advise.

How do you get the rocks to lay on each other and what not, are some of them glued or something on top of others? I am pretty clueless as far as rocks go in set-ups, but i want to use some in my next setup so i am trying to figure out how you do this.

My roomate just got an American eel (I think, was not with him when he got it but it looks like one ;| ) and I too am going to buy some shrimp. How exactly would you quarantine a shrimp? Is it much different than fish? Forgive my ignorance, and any help is appreciated. I want to get this thing...
