    little white things

Hi. Sorry for the late response. I am just seeing this now. I used to work at a chain petstore from 2006-2011 and it was what I was taught and experienced myself with my tanks. Good to know though, thanks. Though I will still stick to my 1x month at 25-40% water changes.

    To many?

You know what, you're right. I wouldn't put a 10 inch Oscar in a 10 gallon but then again I wouldn't ever put any Oscar in a 10 gallon because they have the potential to grow even larger. I guess we used that rule of thumb for community fish. I guess it is a more general statement to give new...

    Tank mate help please

After you mentioned the Tetras I had giant danios in mind. Ill just gave to get the ones with the less fancier fins. I worked at a pet store for 8ish years in the fish department and our giant danios were gorgeous. Might be a fun idea to do a school.

    Convict tank mate help

Hi Candice! That's my name as well and spelled with an "I" too!! My convict is female. I have only ever owned females and they mind their business usually. Might be because my tank is large though.

    Tank mate help please

Awesome idea. I'm just a little hesitant though of adding tetras with the dempseys as they are already a good 5 inches. About the size if your hand. Have you had success?

    The Holidays for your fish.

Nope! I do too!! And I actually just bought a remote control tree to put inside the tank that turns off and on via the remote. Found it at PetSmart for only $10. Not pictured though since I just bought it

    To many?

Rule of thumb when I worked at a pet store throughout high school and some college (2006-2011) is 1 inch per gallon. Meaning when the fish are full grown they shouldn't amount to over 155 Inches if fish in the 155 gallon tank. The only exception to this rule was the goldfish and that was 1 inch...

    Tank mate help please

I all. I have a very well established 56 column tank that currently has 2 jds. A male and female, a convict, a Pleco and a Jacob. Tonight after 3 years my jewel suddenly passed. All week he was hanging out at the heater and I knew something was wrong but he had no visible signs of scrapes, tears...

    little white things

I might be too late to comment. You are doing certain excessive water changes. A weekly water change is not necessary and if you do a weekly I wouldn't take more than 5-10%. Then a monthly of only 25-30%. You may think you are doing good by cleaning but you are taking out the good bacteria in...

Baby reef lobster? Good or bad?

O boy. Right again! But why are they called pistols if they don't shoot the bubbles? The pistols still smack and make those bubbles though right!? I have to look up mantis vs pistol. The mantis shoots the bubbles that reach the temperature of the sun for a second right? You know for the sake of...

    My new angels!

Wow. What a small world. I live in Delaware but my cousin who is into salt tanks has taken me to hidden reef in Pa! It's his favorite store and my aunt jokes about bringing a lawn chair in there and sitting at the front entrance of the fish room.

    Dempsey nest?

I have a male and a female Dempsey. They Are still young and no where near full grown size. Have had for about 3 years. I use a gravel and coral substrate which has been working since day one. I also have marbles and coated sea glass that is not sharp to the touch. They pick these marbles and...
