LANSING, MI - Tank Sitter Needed for Summer (May-August)

I know this is a long-shot, but I need a huuuge favor. I'm thinking about leaving Michigan State University (East Lansing) for the summer to stay with my parents in Texas, but there's the matter of leaving my two aquariums behind. Would anyone knowledgeable with planted...

    KH is 21

    API; 5 ml.

    KH is 21

I'm not sure what it converts to - all I know is that it took 21 drops for the solution to turn yellow. And yeah, I'll try that.

    Planted 2.5 aquascaping journal

Well, I got the DHG and microsword today, and spent about 2 hours pulling them apart and planting them. They look pretty decent; I just hope they'll grow back okay after the anticipated die-off. The funny thing I found is that even though I ordered 2 pots of DHG, Live Aquaria sent in 3. Has...

    KH is 21

No, no nitrate spikes. I'm going to take a sample of water to the lfs this weekend to be sure I just don't have a faulty test kit or something.

    KH is 21

I just got done doing a water test, and my KH came out as 21 - I was using the API test kit. It literally took that many drops for the color to change and I've been getting similar results over the last couple of months, regardless of the pH/CO2/etc. With the GH, it took like, a drop before the...

    Opinions

What do you guys think of this tank? I think it's a beautiful piece of art, but being suitable for the mollies... not so much. ._.

    Planted 2.5 aquascaping journal

Got two bunches of dwarf hairgrass and a pot of microsword using a Live Aquaria giftcard I got for Christmas. :D Just waiting for them to get here in the next couple days. I *think* I might have an idea of where I want this to go; I want to use the microsword in the back, the DHG carpet-look...

You know you're an aquarist if...(just for fun)

When watching "Hoarders" makes you want to clean your room and, most importantly, your tanks.

    Wanted: Eco-Complete

A Few Cupfuls of Eco-Complete I'm going to work on aquascaping a 2.5g soon, and need a little more Eco-complete to provide sufficient depth for my plants. I've already got about 3/4 of what I need, so I don't want to have to buy a whole new bag and have a lot left over. So, does anyone have any...

    Your Thoughts on Glofish

I don't think we should mess with nature any more than we already do as hobbyists. Their wild colors are beautiful enough as it is, but why feel the need to genetically alter them to please the public? It's stupid, in my opinion.

Plant Food While Tank Is Cycling?

You usually shouldn't have a problem. :) I'm cycling a tank right now and feed 'em some fertilizers when I have to, and never see any problems. If you want to help the cycling process AND the bacteria at once, drop a little fish food in there. As it decomposes, it'll release ammonia, but the...

    Planted 2.5 aquascaping journal

Ah, yeah, don't want to deal with powdered stuff and cloudy water, then. I'll probably just stick to Eco-complete, then. I love how it doesn't need to be rinsed. And Convict, yeah, I had no choice but to tear it down. I suppose it'll be fun to be re'scaped, though. Whether it focuses on rocks...

    Planted 2.5 aquascaping journal

There's not much to initially say about this tank. I hadn't put a whole lot of effort into 'scaping it for my betta because I was focusing most of my attention on my 5g planted, but I still liked how it was turning out. Long story short, there was a little wisteria, some dwarf hairgrass, and...

    5 gallon planted

Well. It's been quite a long time since I've updated this thread. Hmm, where to start... good news or bad news? I suppose I might as well get the bad news over with first. My betta died. So did a lot of my cherry shrimp population (there had to be at least 25 in there when I left). I'm 99%...
