Rams require very good water quality or they will not survive very long at all. Keeping a 10Gal tank tip top is hard work. I'd recommend you look for much hardier fish.

Got two Bolivian Rams yesterday. LFS thought could not quite tell if they are male and female as still juvenile but probably are. They seem quite happy so far although they are after the Pleco's cave (even though there at least two others) and I've already seen the Pleco whack one really...

Be aware that Platies breed like crazy. I had to give 42 away to my LFS ! Started with 3. I think Mollies do too so you may end up with more fish than you can planned. Once the platy numbers exploded they took over the tank and prevented more dosile fish geting to food etc.

I wouldn't say that Blue Rams are a starer fish.......

Note that Ottos are very sensitive to water quality. Lot's of tales on the forums of them dying very early. Also they tend to eat all the algae then may or may not take wafers and may or may not survive after that. I have Amano Shrimp and they are great. Great to watch, eat most algae types...
