The other fish in the tank are much larger so he cannot eat them. I just want to feed him something better. My pet store sells crickets so maybe I will do that. With crickets, do I just put a live cricket on the surface of the water?

Yes, there are other cichlids in the tank. I just want to see if I can net out 2 or so in a breeder net, then leave the rest for the parents. This way I know at least 2 survive.

What is the best way to separate them? A net might not work since they are so small.

KH appears to be between 0 - 40 (I only have test strips to measure this) Yesterday, Ammonia and Nitrite are almost 0 (.25 at most). Nitrate was about 40.
