+1 on the Purigen. Does a great job as an additional piece of filter media to soak up the color from the tannins. I boiled my piece until water was brown, changed water, repeat until water color was very mild.

Does it tend to clog the filter, or just leave (no pun intended) a lot of debris laying around on the gravel?

Ha, that's the lfs name, I guess... It looks similar to the anacharis, in that it is sold in bunches and does not root. It is finer of stem and leaf, tho. Looks like a fir tree branch might. I'll look around for it or post a pic later if I can.

So how 'bout wormwort? Would it have the same negative reaction to the Excel as the anacharis?

They look worse by the hour... And my Krib appears to like to eat the transparent leaves, so I think he's helping to strip them bare. Will have to buck up and get a couple new bunches, methinks.

Argh! So no Flourish Excel, then? Just buy Flourish and use it? Sorry, which is the crypt - the wentii? So a t8 Colormax 17W bulb is nothing but low light... So basically, I need to stick with low light plants. Will plants that have a "medium light" requirement just be a bad investment, then?

Does T8 refer to the fixture or the bulb? Can I get a medium strength light for the fixture I have?
