Indeed, plenty of people keep their fish indoors in a stock pond over the winter.

Well, that's depressing. Looks like a 10 or 20 gallon to me. Yikes. For what it's worth, I think most of us started our fish journey with something like this, albeit with smaller goldies. They live through some pretty wretched conditions. Perhaps you can offer advice.

I took Rivercats' advice and did dirt with an ecocomplete cap. Really happy with it. Even when I get distracted and ignore the plants they thrive.

I have frozen cubes of some sort of veggie matter (the same company that makes the bloodworm and shrimp cubes) and I think they appreciate them. I haven't given them any for a while. I'll try that. And whatever fresh veggies my kids reject.

Check out whiskey barrel ponds for your porch or balcony. A bit small for koi, but goldies can work with the proper equipment. The right plantings can make it very nice. For the warm months, of course.

Koi need a lot of space, almost always outside in a pond. They survive the winter just fine if properly prepared for it. They'll get big. I feed my koi regular koi food and give them fruits and veggies too. Do some research on koi. They're really fun.

I have never seen this before. The clown loach suspended itself mid-tank and the angelfish wandered over and began nibbling at the loach's side. After a few seconds, the loach went back to the bottom.
