    Hello again!

Thanks, my Cory's are at full size now with both eyeballs intact after growing out separately for a bit and then being reintroduced at a larger size. Most of my Africans are breeding size and don't bother them at all now. Good advice but every fish is different and as long as they are happy...

    Hello again!

Make sure your Cory's are nice and big and they should be fine. Made the mistake of buying ones too small for my African tank and they got bullied big time.

My rescued JD rehoused in a 77g!! Sex id?

If you use a darker substrate his base color will be darker and his coloring will look even more vibrant :)

My 125 South American set up!!

Aww super cute! Mine was that size when I purchased him/her. They grow insanely fast! You're gonna enjoy your Oscar even more when he's bigger. My big pair will let me stroke their sides when I'm in there vacuuming. Still not sure if they like it or if they just aren't bothered enough to swim...

My 125 South American set up!!

Everyone will tell you to ditch the Oscar because they're so common, but honestly my oscars are by far my favourites. They're excited to see me every time i enter the room, they eat from my hands, they grow FAST and are very tolerant of any tank mates until they are mating. It really depends...

    Tankmates

Depends on the Dempsey really. It's hit and miss with mine. He's about 7-8" now. I had a nasty Severum one time that he didnt bother at all. He lived with oscars peacefully for quite a while until they got to be the same size as him and then he started nipping fins like crazy. Now he lives with...

    Oscars are breeding!

Well folks, after an unsuccessful first attempt my oscars are at it again. New batch of eggs are now 2 days old, definitely fertilized and being well protected and cared for. They were a lot more aggressive this time and have been causing quite a stir. She also laid twice as many eggs this time...

    Most active/personable 5-8" cichlid?

I find male JDs to have better coloring. But a 40g would not be big enough for a full grown JD as they get bigger than the 5-8" you are interested in. My female convict is very friendly and nicely coloured but has lived with oscars for most of her life and is probably quite sociable for that...

Help to Sex my JD please

X2 My JD colors up nicely with darker substrate as well. They change color very easily from stress too.

    Oscar tank

I recommend sand. Oscars are very messy and sand is easier to vacuum. Plus they like to dig in it, a lot.

    Oscar tank mates? Please help.

How big is your Oscar? My large pair is about 10 inches and nothing bothers them. My smaller pair are 5 inches and 7 inches and get bullied by the Dempsey if I don't rearrange the tank often. I've tried convicts with my Dempsey but they fight constantly. It's really trial and error with Oscar...

    Oscars are breeding!

Well, one of the parents had a few mouthfuls of eggs it appears as I am missing all but a hundred when I woke up this morning. Moved the eggs to their own tank with lots of aeration but I'm worried that they are duds. Should they have hatched by now? How often can I expect them to breed now?

Albino Tiger Oscar laying on side?

Yeah that's completely normal. Mine was that way for a few days. Now he comes to the top to see me whenever I am near the tank. Be patient because its definitely worth it. A 20 gallon won't last you long. They grow about an inch a month
