Aqueon spectrum or Floramax T8 bulb for Fish

The full spectrum Aqueon bulb blew so I took a quick ride to the store. They only had the Floramax bulb 15 W 18"L that I needed. This is the first time replacing the bulb, it has been about 2 1/2 years. I have mostly platties, a Betta, 4 cory catfish and a Green Tetra Glo fish....no natural...

I`ve found platy fry in my community tank

It's pretty easy to tell the male from female. The anal fin of the male is called a gonopodium looks clamped, flat and elongated and the females is fan shaped. See picture.

    Green water for betta fry

Google it. I read microworms are best. There's also website Bettafish.com maybe they can answer best.

    Post fry pictures here!!!

I can't put it in my main tank as I have a Betta in there. I'm sure he'd bite thru a net to get this one

    Post fry pictures here!!!

Found this tiny Platy fry in the bucket of old water from my tank. Must have gone through the syphon out into the bucket. So glad I also had some gravel in there that my husband questioned, so I looked around the bucket. This little one was swimming on the top. I I scooped it and have it in a...

Rolled in on the petsmart bus...

I do 20-25% water change every week with 14 fish in a 20 gal tank. I clean filter once a month thoroughly. If possible, do water change at least every other week. They say smaller changes more often is better. I just got over a high nitrate problem. You have a lot of fish to clean up after and...

Rolled in on the petsmart bus...

That's a lot of fish for a 20 gal. The 50 will be much better. Someone told me to double your filter. For example, I have a 20 gal tank with 14 fish, using a Fluval 50 filter since they didnt have a 40 and I have it on lowest setting. I don't know what is recommended here tho.

    Something's wrong

I don't have any of those fish but I'd separate him into a 'hospital' tank, give him some meds for about 3 days, doing 100% water change adding conditioner of course, make sure water temp matches. Check your water parameters in original tank for amonia, nitrite and nitrates.

Anytime fish are behaving unusual I check amonia, nitrites and nitrates and make sure the heater is working (mine recently was not workingalso after 1 1/2 yrs even though the light came on. Good thing I also check thermometer). Then I do a water change siphoning the gravel. This fish may be...

    Old or sick Platy?

The nitrates effected him probably because he's the oldest, or perhaps he's just sensitive to it. Just wanted to let you know I followed your advice and stirred up the gravel then did 40% water changes every other day. I'm keeping track of the nitrates weekly which has been 0.2 for the past two...
