My CAE is young at the moment he's only 2 inches, that's good to note as i was not aware of this. I only picked him up because I'm not a fan of keeping plecos because of the size they get and it looked like the CAE grew to about 5-6 inches.

So I've had my 55gal tank set up for about 3 weeks now and have maintained a steady temp of 77 degrees 'F since the 3rd day, the first night i practically boiled my tank at 86+ degrees F, so i cranked my 200w submersable All Glass branded heater down to 71 which resulted in my steady tank temp...

So my question is, since it states that it also removes ammonia should this not be used during cycle and I should stick to something like aqua plus when i do my pwc's

Picked up a bottle of Prime the other day, Reddish label made by seachem. I was reading it more closely and it says it removes Chlorine, Chloramines and Ammonia. Is this the right stuff? I'm cycling my tank right now so i'm hesitant to use this, can somebody enlighten me :)

This think ROCKS! I was so worried when i decided to start this hobby that the PWC's would get tedious and time consuming and would lead to my failure at this. Took me about 5 minutes to do a 10% PWC on a 55 gal tank. Took longer for me to realize that i was looking at the faucet backwards...

So one more question, while your tank is slowly cycling with these undetectable amts of ammonia or nitrite should you still be doing PWC's?

I was just wondering, I have and AquaClear 70 hanging filter and was curious as to how far down the siphon tube should go. I have a standard 55 gal tank and it hangs about half way down, do I need an extension or is it fine where it is?
