Yep, they sell it. The bag I got when I set up my 55 is nice and white and larger grain. The bag I just picked up from the same store is a lot browner, smaller grain and really "dirty". I gave up on trying to wash that bag. The texture was more like mud. I guess the whole point of my post was to...
Evidently all Home Depot sand isn't the same. I'm getting things together to switch tanks from 55 to 75 gallon. I went to the same Home Depot where I had previously gotten the pool filter sand I used in my 55. I noticed that it was a lot finer grain than before and was also more brown in color...
I've got 7 clowns in my 75 gallon. When I feed them cucumber, I peel a whole one 1/2 way down lengthwise, stick a fork in the side to hold it down and then put it in the tank. They will devour the entire thing overnight. All that will be left is some skin. I don't even have to microwave it. It's...
Clowns need pristine water conditions in a well established tank and are pretty sensitive to higher nitrate levels. The smaller they are when purchased, the harder it is to have them thrive and do well. I've got 6 in my 55 gal that are roughly 3 to 4 inches. I've had them for probably 6 months...
Interesting, I would have never thought it could be the skirts. At any rate, I guess I won't be getting any more frogbit. That didn't last anytime at all. Thanks.
About 2 weeks ago I added some frogbit to my tank since I like the look of some floating type plants. I have clown loaches in there too and now almost all of the frogbit is gone. I assume they are the little munchers?
Thanks
Ok, those use replaceable type cartridges. You should just swish them around in a small bucket of your tank water to remove any built up gunk. Since you running two filters, when the time comes they need to be changed, you can switch them out one at a time. I would do one then wait about two or...
I'll second that for sure. I have six clowns ranging between 3 and 4 inches. They are definitely the most entertaining and interesting fish in my tank.
What brand HOB are they? Filters like Aqua Clear can be set up almost like a canister filter since you can add layers of differing media. Most HOB filters use preset "cartridge" type filtering.
You really don't even need the carbon in there. Most people just put it in when removing meds after treating for something. You also shouldn't change the filter cartridge until it is pretty much falling apart. That's where all your good beneficial bacteria is going to be. When it is close to...
