    Try AZ-NO3. Worked like a charm for me twice ... not permanent (as in forever), but it works. I've used it twice since last Feb.

    I'm not sure I agree with the biowheel, though. Those things potentially INCREASE the amount of nitrates in the system. In my 90 gal I will have about 160 lb of lr - and another 40 or so in my sump. That should keep the nitrate level down to near zero.

    Good question. I'm lurking. Only prob that comes to mind right away is how to work with coral frags and avoid being stung by the lion.

    Brain coral

    I'm not sure about brains, but some corals expel a portion of their zooxanthellae periodically, as well. It often appears as a brown, stingy snot-like substance. Yum.

    That's a pretty blunt conclusion, isn't it? "Complete nonsense"? I'd like to hear more about the specifics of this, if you could. I mean, you are asking all of the readers of this board to substitute your judgement for his - maybe a few specifics would help.
