biggg problem please help many problems

The purple algae is Coraline and is very beneficial to your tank. It's a bad move but I guess you could scrub it off. Also, I would recommend leaving your rocks alone during a PWC, putting your hands in the tank and moving rocks unnecessarily just adds stress to your livestock for no reason.

biggg problem please help many problems

The purple on live rock is a very beneficial type of algae, you don't want to get rid of it! In fact, over the life of your aquarium it will build up in non viewing areas (the back). The GSP might take several days, even a week or so to open. Like I said above, don't worry unless the purple...

biggg problem please help many problems

Sometimes GSPs like to close up for a little while. I have had one for a few months and it is growing like crazy but closed up the other day and hasn't opened at all. If the purple matting starts to loose it's color then there is means for concern.

    What is dosing?

I have heard a lot of reefkeepers talking about it but know nothing about it. I have a 55 with about a dozen small corals and am wondering if this helps them grow.

I know. It was just crazy, he was fine one day, then BAM, this happens! I know the tank is doing well otherwise as all my corals are doing fantastic!

    Sick hippo tang HELP!!

That's really interesting! I thought it was bad news for sure! I can't see my hippo anymore, he must be hiding well. I have faith that he is still alive and kicking because the CUC isn't going crazy. I hope he makes it, I really want to move him to the big tank when I get it all set up!

    Sick hippo?!

I guess I should update. Water is perfect, just did a PWC. He just moved, still hiding but not by the shrimp anymore. It's really hard to see him but last time I saw him there were no signs of ick

    Sick hippo?!

I have one who seemed totally fine until one evening I found my coral banded all over him. Now he's hiding, right next to the same shrimp, and won't come out. The shrimp is leaving him alone now, but he's not eating just hiding. Any ideas?

    Dead fish, coral dying?

Ok, my LFS recommended adding more snails so I added 15 small snails because my nitrate was just a touch above. Today, I lost my kole tang and orange clown. Water test is good. Nitrate is perfect... I don't know what to look at..... Help!!

    Dead fish, coral dying?

They did seem pretty tore up for being dead such a short time but one was sucked to a powerhead, the other was being "cleaned" by my banded shrimp. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium

    Dead fish, coral dying?

LFS said that I wouldn't have to feed either of the corals. Is this not true at all? Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium
