Just picked up a tank in Corpus Christi, TX, and getting ready to add the proper equipment (it's a bare tank with sump and open cabinet) It's 300 gallons; 96W x 30T x 24D; overall height is 5' 11" – what's in the picture was only $1200 (plus two days' use of a U-Haul van) • feels like a steal...

I can’t even give it away! But I absolutely hate to toss it into the dumpster without trying… What risk is there in plugging it in, just to test it? Should I attach intake and output hoses and dunk the ends in a 5g bucket of water and let it run for 5-15 minutes?

So, perhaps I should re-frame my question, sans humor; I clearly know that you’re not talking about foot covers. What socks are y’all discussing?

I posted this on my $200 Score thread, but cross posting here for feedback. Scored a 30g for $30 a few days ago to use as sump & refugium for the 110g. Found a really cool CAD app for iOS so, naturally, I had to play with it. And what better way to play? Draw up plans for the sump, of course...

The 50” on the left and 60” on the right will actually be 60” & 70”, respectively, providing 2 actual inches for filtering material. I plan to use the second large chamber as the fuge. How’s that sound?

lol…yeah, the buffer’s in the big box with all the other dumpster chow. There’s actually two skimmers; the CPR and the Pro-Twin. The Pro-Twin runs fine, so it’s getting a good test in the 75’s sump for a week or so…
