Tell me if this makes sense or if I am of base. the return from my sump is on the top of the tank opposite my overflow box. I have algae growing on the glass from the bottom of the tank up. However it never makes it up further than just half the tank. I am speculating that I just don't have...

thanks everyone I've only had him/her for about a month and he is still about the same size maybe an inch and a half to two inches and has always looked like this. its not overly important that I determine what it is, I think its beautiful and a nice addition to my tank either way.

if it helps its not clear in the picture but on his back bottom fin there is a single yellowish spot just like on my red zebra

Did these diatoms ever go away? My tank has been set up for a few months now and I've cleaned brown stuff off my glass once a week and it just keeps coming back maybe mine is actually algae? It showed up after the third month, its also now moved to all my decorations as well.
