    Confused about my Betta..

I think I've identified the problem...but I'm not sure. As you all know, criwntail fins are incredibly frayed-looking in their natural state...but today, I noticed the ends are starting to look...dead. Dunno any other way to describe it. I wish I had a camera that could capture an image clear...

    Confused about my Betta..

Not really worried he'll become a 'killer'...but I'd hate for Goldie and Bleu to have to keep re-growing stalks every couple weeks. :\ I know what you mean though, this guy thinks he's royalty. :)

    Confused about my Betta..

About the pond snails...I'm not sure I want Sam to get a taste for snail...his 2 roomates are snails, but I might be able to start up a small tank of brine shrimp if necessary...at the moment I'm about to snap on my roomies for being so picky about what I can feed my fish. I have noticed...

    Confused about my Betta..

Well, we're coming up on the 5-day mark now...so...yeah. The garlic didn't have any effect...he's not even looking at the food. The plus side...I don't have to specifically feed the snails...yet...which reminds me, I need to figure out a way to sink their greens to the bottom so they can...

    Confused about my Betta..

Well, I've tried all 3 varieties I have at hand, pellets, flakes and the brine shrimp...and tried feeding him with both the airstone and filter on, and off and both combinations. :\ Last night though, I observed him actually pecking at the gravel...does he think he's a bottom feeder or is he...

    Confused about my Betta..

Hopefully this is the right place to post this... Recently, I re-homed my guppies and tetras, (The otto had a disagreement with the filter intake...it wasn't pretty.) and was left with an empty, cycled, planted, beautiful 5-gal tank that was begging for an occupant. So, I went out and picked...

    Mental imbalance or eco-imbalance...you decide.

Yeah, I've been doing water changes daily/bi-daily as schedule allows, usually between 25-70%, since it's a decorated tank it's hard to measure by sight. I will also be picking up a better test kit once I have the funds, but at the moment, $18 is the difference between groceries for the whole...

    Mental imbalance or eco-imbalance...you decide.

I'm incredibly new to fishkeeping of any variety, having only had 2 aquariums in the past, one a goldfish and one a beta...so if this question seems silly, forgive me. :P As it sits right now I have a 5.5gal tank, an AquaTech 5-15 filter a 4" bubbler disk fed by a low-end topfin air pump...

    Greetings from Central Cali

Well, if he ever comes out of hiding, I'll check the colors...but my guess would be an oto judging by the pictures...

    Greetings from Central Cali

Well...it's coloring is more like the plecostomus, but body and fin shape is a lot like the otoc. It's so tiny it's hard to tell, my vision isn't the best on the planet and it spends it's time mostly hiding around the base of the plants. At the moment the tetras are slightly bigger.

    Greetings from Central Cali

Aloha everyone. My name's Kasper (on the net anyway) and as you can probably all tell, I'm new here. I actually found this place while googling for info about my new 5-gal aquarium (Yes, I was stupid. I set up and bought fish before reading...so now I'm rushing to play catch-up and not hurt the...
