Is a knife fish compatible in my tank???

Here's a pic I found... May be another species, but I've definitely seen pics of extremely large clowns.

    Pictus barbels got shorter

I agree with what has been said. However, I do think Newhob mentioned something that hasn't been addressed. I've had a couple of Pictus Cats for about a year now. When I introduced the second one, they fought for about a week and I observed this curvy, shortening of whiskers business...

    WOW look at this.

My area doesn't have a lot of fish stores, but I've seen these in town, surprisingly enough. The one I saw most recently was about 4" and $29 -- a fair price.

    The XP3 -

Wow! This filter is awesome! Really easy to work with, efficient -- just what I was looking for. Thanks to everyone that helped me pick it out! :-)

Alright, I ordered my Canister ;-)

Thanks to everyone that helped me pick out a canister filter. I ended up going with the Filstar XP3 from Big Al's. Sounded like it offered a lot of bang for the buck. I'll keep you posted.

Silver Dollars and other schooling fish.

Wow, that is just an AWESOME tank. One of the nicest ones I've seen! Good luck on deciding on the Silver Dollars!

Looks good. I have that exact same log decoration -- I opted to take the plastic, hot-glued plants off of it, though :-P

Interesting. Well, thank you again for assistance. Good luck finding your Mastacembelids.

    Look what I stepped into

Wow, sounds like a great deal! For what it's worth, I think a lot of the relatively inexpensive stands you buy from the stores are made from MDF, particle board, etc., so that's not all that uncommon with the stand. This is how it starts though--one tank for a couple months, two tanks shortly...

    I'm such an idiot...

Dang! First of all, don't feel badly! Your heart was in the right place -- you were trying to help your FH out. It's not as if you were trying to be malicious. Second, as mentioned above, FH's, due to being a mix of so many cichlids, are tough and hardy fish. Let us know how things progress.

    Phernetton (Sp) "Eel"

So, out of curiousity, are these hard to come by? This store has other Tanganyikan Eels such as the Tanganyikan Banded Eel (beautiful specimen)-$125 a piece. Also, does this mean that "Fren", as we called it, was a TRUE eel as opposed to most "eels" we encounter in LFS in the USA? Thanks...

Ahhh!! Excellent call, Fruitbat. You've saved the day again... That's my fish! The only thing is the 18" size restriction. I really thought the specimen was at least 24" if not upwards of 30", but memory may not serve me well. That is my enigmatic fish, though. greenmagi: I did, indeed...
