And I have a ton of things I'd love to share with this forum. My 75G FOWLR has been a work in progress, lots of things I've done. I hope in sharing the things I've made, I can help others that are working on projects.
It's great to be back! :D
I've built a PVC overflow before and honestly I say while the principal works fine, it's not super good for the long term. The siphon is easy to break in comparison to a "U" tube (probably because the open end of the pipe is exposed to the surface? Not totally sure...)
I'd say look into an...
I had a minor ick outbreak... then a pretty substantial outbreak... then a total catastrophic fish loss. Now the tank only has one chromis' in it and after posting this I'll move him to QT. (I hate learning things the hard way :()
My question is: How long should I leave the DT empty? I've...
Against many peoples opinions, I decided to try the "reef safe" and "snake oil" treatments out there to try to get rid of Ick. WASTE OF MONEY! >_< I should have known better, but failures are just an unfortunate way to learn. (Yes, you all were right.)
So, what exactly should I do...
Seems fancy. I personally would just stick to a float switch with redundancy. (or just get a Tunze ATO with the optical sensor. Really cool device! Especially when it's on the used rack for 20 bucks. :) )
I'll check out bulbs online tomorrow. I'm guessing they are the original bulbs (the "daylight" ones) because I was the first one to open up the light. (there was still some packing tape on the bottom.) Inside there were a ton of dead bugs though O_o
The fixture was used and came with 4 daylight bulbs. I kept two and bought 2 actinics (I don't think they are even that spectrum, they are like cheap Chinese knock off types. XD)
In my opinion, they have always been kinda dim but it may be because of old/inferior bulbs.
I have PC's over my tank and I can't seem to get that "bright" look. Is it a water clarity issue? or is it just the choice of bulbs? I got 2x 55W actinics and 2x 10000K daylight.
Any ideas?
Very informative! Thanks!
I'm starting to wonder if this is actually Ich. It probably is, but I thought the normal thing fish do when they have it is scratch on the rocks and not eat and stuff. Neither of my fish scratch (could mean nothing, but it could also mean something) Plus, there aren't...
I think I'll just wait it out and see if maybe this Ich Attack stuff works. If it doesn't, then hopefully they can fight the Ich off.
Also, has anyone had any success with garlic? (either added directally to the tank or into the food)
I bought a bottle of Ich Attack from the store tonight, and after researching it out more, I'm pretty sure it won't help. So, instead of going for copper or formalin based treatments, or even hypo, I was wondering if it was possible to just let it "work itself out"? It's probably a really bad...
