I crush the bladder snails. I have two assassin snails that cleverly hide, they don't eat as many bladder snails as I'd like and I think they do harm my very large Mystery snails, because I can't seem to keep them alive for much longer than a few months. So I crush the bladder snails, the fish...
I have 4 red Platty's and here are their tank mates:
-neon tetras
-Molly's
-guppies
-mystery snail
-bristlenose dwarf pleco
-green cory's
- 2 dwarf gouramis
-zebra fish
and after a year with this crew I have tons of fry, Guppy's, Platty's and Molly fry. They seem like a happy crew.
It's worked for me for years. I always have charcoal in my filter and I've never had any ammonia nor nitrite or nitrate issues. Sometimes I don't even change the water weekly and I just top off and still running smoothly. I guess you need to find your happy medium.
In my experience if I mess...
Hi. I have two PAnda Mollies and this one has looked scaly and sick for at least 6 months! He's pretty aggressive (always has been) he's over a year old. He was about the same size as he is right now when I got him and his movement hasn't changed at all. Is this something that happens to mean...
When you set up a tank you have to put in the de-chlorinating water conditioner. The filter should have some charcoal in it to clean the water. Don't over feed -ever- the temperature is too high, set it to 78 at most. Change at least 10% of the water weekly and new water that you put in needs...
mine have intermixed. I have Panda Mollies and Balloon belly mollies and now I have panda balloon belly fry. Mollies are super resilient. Mine haven't eaten the fry or at least, I still have like 10 fry that made it. I have tons of fry from Platy's and Guppies too...its a busy tank.
The PH seems to be consistently 6.4 GH around 300 and KH is around 30. I mostly have brackish fish except for a couple of cory and 4 mystery snails. the Nitrate levels are good as well as the Ammonia. These numbers have stayed pretty consistent, anyway the filter cartridge seems to stay clean. I...
I posted recently about water hardness and low PH, but now I noticed that my filter cartridge is clean after a couple of weeks of not rinsing out. What's up with that?
I checked the filter, there is no gunk in the cartridge, I haven't cleaned it for weeks. What's up with that? Seems like there is no bacteria or algae buildup.
Hi all!
I have a 30 gal tank with mostly brackish fish but I don't add any salt. It has a regular filter that hangs in the back of the tank with activated charcoal and I run a powerhead pump every few days to move the water and it helps keep the water clean. I also added some Pothos plants and...
They look like pest snails...they'll come in anything you get from the fish store. They're not really harmful but they are prolific breeders and super hard to control. An assassin snail might help, but if it gets out of control you should take them out and crush them. Don't flush them down a drain.
