    German Blue Rams (GBR)

What kind of sturcture does your tank have? Angels will pair up and kind of establish a school. 1 Angel will always be the one getting picked on, he needs some structure, drift wood and or plants to escape. In general 1 angel will be boss, if you have one very aggressive angel then a school...

    Building an aquarium

Make sure the glass is of acceptable quality. By that I mean clarity and strength. http://www.garf.org/tank/buildtank.asp Is a good calculator, obviously as your glass is 1/2 and not 3/8ths some changes would have to be made.

    German Blue Rams (GBR)

Actually I just cleared out 3/4s of the plants.. it was over grown. I then planted towards the back of the tank to open more up. The plants look a little bad at the bottom cause they weren't getting any light.

    German Blue Rams (GBR)

I've had them for about 4 months, I just sold my first batch of juvies from the spawning. I"ve found that keep them at 78-82 keeps them happy and more colored. Also these get fed brine shrimp, Daphna, freeze dried blood worms and flakes. Lighting is also key. I have a grow bulb and an antic...

    Lake Superior gravel

Since I live on the south shore... I"d say its fine as long as you use a bleach wash or something... rock type might matter. I put about 300 agates in my 20 long, 3 years no issues.

    New tank build.

I've built several tanks... local glass stores. Depending on how tall you want to make your tank and if you care about having a brace in the middle you can go with 1/4 inch plate which is pretty standard. Not sure what your dimensions are but 1/4 inch plate can be used up to 18 inchs high with...

    Plywood Tanks questions .

Plywood tanks are roughly the same if not more expensive then making a glass aquarium from scratch. I think that if you can cut glass or have a good glassier in the area who won't charge an arm and a leg glass is cheaper and easier to work with.

Is this true about German Blue Rams?

I find that Actin blue brings out rams colors really nicely. My breeding pair looks just like yours but there about a week post spawn, which explains there colors. Took my first batch of rams about a month or maybe even 6 weeks to look truly awesome.

    Sick hatchet!!!

Depending on your water quality I"ve always found more is better. A python water changer is the best investment ever.

    Sick hatchet!!!

What %? Once a week 50% water changes for me, haven't had ich or anything like that since... At least 10 years.

    Sick hatchet!!!

Water Changes are key for them. I keep marbled though, which are a little different.

    Sick hatchet!!!

Good, aren't they pretty? I"ve found that hatchets seem pretty delicate moving water, but once there acclimated they tend to be good. Fortunately my LFS and I both use well water from the same aquifer which helps a lot.

    Sick hatchet!!!

Silver hatchets don't hug the top quite as much as marbled hatchets, but they do stay in the top 1/3rd of the water right? And as for eating more... look at them head on. There really really skinny fish. I expect a cardinal tetra and a hatchet fish to eat about the same.
