Hmm, ok thanks. But... right now we're using some generic no-name light that came with the hood set of our tank and my husband wants to get something of better quality. But the shrimp wont come out and "socialize" unless I turn the light off. So I'm lost.

Whats the best lighting for 2 clowns and a skunk cleaner shrimp? Reason I ask is because I was told that the cleaner shrimp likes "low" light..... Although I'm not sure if this is true. Can anyone confirm that? Anyway, what would be the best lighting setup to keep them ALL happy?

Wow you described whats been going on with our pair EXACTLY!! Same deal here... so I am guessing you are ok too. At first they were always together, but now they are each becoming a little more independent. I miss how they snuggled together when turned the lights off..... now, one of them...

This question is about clown poop. hehe :o Earlier today I noticed one of the clowns had a little bit of white stringy poop (it eventually disappeared), so I thought nothing of it. However...... a little while ago, I noticed the other clown has the same stringy white poop! Now, I know this...

No for the moment, there is no refuge or skimmer. We were told that for a 30 gallon with such a small bio load, it is pretty much optional stuff.... but yeah, I'm sure it would make a huge difference. Our nitrates have been high since day 1, so I am willing to bet it has to do with our tap...

Thanks for the tip! I am going to break out the gravel vac and do a water change right now.

P.S. If anyone has any good ideas on how to get those nitrate levels down to almost zero.. please share!! Any help would be appreciated.
