    Need help with identification

My initial thought was a long tentacle/polyp sarcophytons , however, he claims that the entire species is more fluid/soft like an anemone collapsing into a tube structure at night. This description obviously would not be consistent with a sarcophyton. Upon further review, I never really saw a...

    Need help with identification

A friend of mine sent me these pictures. Apparently, this specimen was a welcomed surprise which has grown put of his live rock over the past year and is now the focal piece in his tank. Any ideas on identification?

Green algea growing everwhere? what should i do?

Your aquarium has a green film algae bloom. What type of coral/inverts do you have in tank? Usually this is a sign of poor water quality or excessive amounts of nutrients. If you dont have a number of snails and hermits in the tank now is a good time to consider investing in some janitors...

    Toadstool Leather Help!!

From the picture it appears that you may have cyanobacteria growing on the leather. I would try gently rubbing the surface of the leather to help shed the outer layer of skin and to remove the red algae.

    Sick Mushrooms?

They look good to me. You dont state however how much light was on the shrooms at the LFS nor how long they were there. It is not uncommon for them to take a period of time to adjust to the new system and light intensity. In addition, moving them around in tank to different levels of...

    cleaner shrimp has black spots

Well, fertilized eggs are green in coloration and the shrimp will appear to tend to them at times. Scarlet cleaners do have the ability to store sperm and produce viable eggs for several cycles after being separated from a mate. However, spots on top would not fit with this thought. Do you...

    cleaner shrimp has black spots

Do you have a picture of the spots or can you describe better where on the shrimp the spots are seen? What type of cleaner do you have and how long has the shrimp been in the tank? Most likely what you are observing is your shrimp carrying a cluster of eggs on its pleopods.

    Strange Seaslug Infestation!!!

You will have to make that decision yourself. I have never had a problem with orders from them in the past, but it has been a long time since I have purchased anything from them. The company has been in business for a long time now I'm sure you could poll others on recent experience. Hope...

    Strange Seaslug Infestation!!!

This is true with the nudibranch diet. Most feed on sea squirts, bryozoans, small worms, crustaceans, or snails, but some are cannibalistic. Once the food supply is gone they will starve and die. Which means cure has been acheived in the case of planaria infestation. However, my experience...

    Strange Seaslug Infestation!!!

I have heard of many different types of treatment for flatworms. Some medications can in fact also paralyze certain inverts and usually are not agreeable to many corals and so as Steve has referenced quick removal of both flatworm and medication is a must. According to Julian Sprung (The Reef...
