    Filtration question

I have a 55 gal fowlr right now as well. I have 50 lbs of live rock , a protein skimmer and an eheim 2227 canister filter. All 3 combined my system is crystal clear. Canisters a great filters you just need to make sure you stay on top on water changers and rinsing the filters pads in tank water...

    Flame angel

A 55 is fine for a dwarf angel, but you need to think about other important things before adding a flame. 1. What is your current stocking list? Are you already fully stocked? 2. Will the fish you already have be compatible with a flame? For example, do you have any other dwarf angels ? 3...

    Dot Dash Butterfly Care

I agree. They are delicate, but they can be done and thrive. As long as you put your time and effort into researching all about the butterfly family of fish. You will need to try different things to entice her to eat as well. As mentioned before, I had to try mysis soaked in garlic, seaweed...

    Water testing a FOWlR tank

Exactly. For fowlr tanks it isn't necessary to test for those other trace elements. They will be replaced by your bi weekly water changes. If you plan on doing coral later on down the line you will need to test for those other elements.

    Water testing a FOWlR tank

If its just a fowlr tank than a simple API saltwater master kit will do. If you will do coral later on down the line then invest in a more expensive kit. For fowlr, all you really have to test for are; ph Ammonia Nitrite Nitrate

    Dot Dash Butterfly Care

Yes. From my personal experience and research Aurigas and raccoon butterfly's are the hardiest of butterfly's. just watch it eat before you buy it. And watch it for a few minutes to see if its eyes are clear, if its body is healthy and make sure it isn't flashing or rubbing itself against the...

    Dot Dash Butterfly Care

+1 with mr x. As with all fish make sure you inspect them for any health issues before purchase. Clear eyes. Eating in store. No white spots or Flashing. And a nice belly not one that curves inward.

    Dot Dash Butterfly Care

I have never kept this species of butterfly but have a small raccoon butterfly in my 75. They are beautiful fish. As long as it is a "small"( meaning 1.5-2inches) than you should be ok. In terms of care, butterfly I'm general are delicate fish. They need pristine water quality and can be picky...

    Raccoon butterfly flashing

Rid ich plus is not a copper treatment. It is formalin and malachite green. I did the full dosage again last night, after I did a water change and let her eat in peace. I will see how she is this morning and keep everyone posted.
