Or maybe the fact the tank is 9 days old and will be going through the start of a cycle? You have to do a Partial Water Change to keep that ammonia as low as possible. If it's currently at 1ppm a 50% change will not drop it into the "safe" limits. 2 50% changes over the corse of a few hours...

If your stock is low, why are you feeding so much? You'd be better off looking for a fish that you truly want, not what you think you need. I had this problem a while back and wasted some good money on a fish I really didn't need.

I just don't feel comfortable painting a tank that cost me over £1000 to assemble lol. Black paper that has been laminated is my go-to backing. It's quite cheap and can be made at home easily.

Or try feeding less? Buying a fish to solve a problem you create is quite foolish. They fish would depend on you over feeding the tank in order to thrive.

Well that's not entirely true but it's a good rule of thumb.

I doubt it was a Eupterus, they aren't well known for reaching over 12 inches..

It would be hard for them to eat anything bigger than a shrimp with their small mouths.

If it's made by Hagen why not just google Hagen and look at their small tanks?
