    My 60 gallon

Lively tank. Have you thought about adding to the numbers of tetras? They will really blossom in numbers of 6+ each and you have plenty of room in the 60gal to do so.

    air pump sponge filters

Thanks for all the help guys. I shall order one today. They always seemed to look a bit naff to me. Lol. I had fears concerning anything purely driven by an air stone, wondering how effecient such a devise could be.

    air pump sponge filters

Hello everyone. I just wondered what anyones experience are with these. I know they are primarily designed for very small or fry tanks, but i have a spare outlet on my air pump and was thinking (if they are any good) why not have some extra filtration - even if it is minimal? All...

Lovely tank and the water is so clear. I absolutely love the starburst orange and black Discus. Top stuff!

    Testing kits?

Liquid test kits are the way to go. Test strips are more or less redundant (IMO). I personally have the nutrafin liqiud test centre, but i hear very good things about the API master kit. It is good to test regularly. All the best.

    Creativity

You could have a go at making your own background to sit just infront of the back of the tank. In my 33gal convict tank i have made a slate background made out of broken kitchen tiles attached to an acrylic sheet by aquarium safe waterproof/watertight non-leaching silicon. It is a fair amount of...

Question: Small Lowlight Plant for 10G

Depeding on water quality and the availability of nutrients, you may want to look in crypts. I have had previous success with cryptocoryne wendtii in a ten with low lighting. Hope i could be useful

    New 10 gallon

The bigger the fish the more the waste = increased bio load. You have to remember a ten gallon tank isnt very big at all. All the best

    36gal bow front stocking ???

+1 for the cherry barbs. They are fantastic fish. I would recomend keeping a close eye on them with the angel to start with. Sounds like you are going about it the right way. It is a fantastic hobby to get into - very addictive.

    36gal bow front stocking ???

The old addage is With time comes stable parimeters. Young tanks with good readings for what seems like an extended time frame can be misleading, as this is when the aquarium is most vulnerable to witness spikes. Regards.

    36gal bow front stocking ???

Rummy-nose teras are fantastic, beautiful fish but they do much better in an established aquarium. So you may want to think about something else. Diamond tetras are really under appreciated schoolers, they look drab in the shop, but take them home, look after them and they bloom into beautiful...

Tank is cycling, what fish to get?

I personally think that silver dollars in a 20 is a big no no. You would be asking for trouble; they get huge and prefer to be in groups of 6 or more. As mentioned a 20 gal long isnt a very big tank. Aquadvisor is a basic guide more than anything else. The sugesstions are often given for...

Tips on cleaning algae on glass?

I use a soft toothbrush in general, but for the tough stuff, i use a plastic credit card. Dont scrape too hard because you may scratch the glass, but i have found it to be very effective. All the best.

    pink convicts

I agree. Such a shame. They have fantastic personalities and are not nearly as aggressive as is often sugested, providing that they are kept in appropriate conditions with enough space for their territory.
