    bubbles

Like I said before, thats what I do, I've never had any problem with my corals, I don't keep hard corals, just soft. They seem to do quite well, actually I have this huge mushroom colony directly in the bubble flow, it has doubled in size in the pase few months, very healthy looking. So, I don't...

    Peek-a-boo things

I just had to post this, I was looking at my tank tonight and I just happened to have my digi cam with me. I found 2 things hiding that were just adorable, so I thought I would share.

    green slime algae

It's been running for 2 years, this is the first outbreak of cyno, got it under control now, was just looking for anyone who might have found a better product that didn't effect everything else in the tank. Things are so much more simple with my marine tank, so much less to worry about, although...

    bubbles

Bubbles are normal. There is oxygen under water, usually you just don't see it. The powerheads create a vaccuum under water and sucks up the invisible oxygen and combines it and every now and then the combines oxygen bunches up to create a bubble, which then gets sucked throught the impellor and...

    Best lighting for Calerpa algae?

I had 2 types of caulerpa, feather and razor, they both did extremely well under full spectrum and actinic combined. They really love the actinic though. Mine did great, escpecially the feather caulerpa until my emerald crabs decided to eat all of it, ALL OF IT, EVERY STINKING BIT OF IT. So...

    5 gallon tank

I wouldn't do that to my worst enemy. Not a good Idea, but if you must, stay away from the fish and go with inverts. You could put a few macro algae, a few mushroom polyps and such and for livestock, maybe 1 or 2 sexy shrimp, really cool little things. Add a couple snails and blue legged hermit...

    green slime algae

nitrates were slightly less than 5.0, nitrites were roughly around 0.10 and ammonia was non existent. I use the same tap water on my reef tank and don't have any problems like this, so I can't see there being any phosphate problems. I'm thinking of converting this brackish tank to freshwater...

    green slime algae

I just checked the nitrite, nitrate and ammonia levels in my brackish tank and they all check out good, but the green slime algae seems to be flourishing in my tank? what is it feeding off, I know they feed off of light, would putting the light on for only a few hours a day help, or completely...

    FIGURE EIGHT PUFFERS

One of my figure 8 puffers has a wierd spot. It is active and normal in all other ways, no wierd behavior or anything like that. At the base of its dorsal fin, it looks raw as if the skin is gone, it's all around the base of the dorsal fin, but not on the fin at all, the fin looks perfectly...

    clown food question

Save yourself the trouble mate, I have 2 clowns too and they were meat eaters when I got them. After 2 weeks, they only eat marine flakes now, and they take them readily. Just cut the feedings until they are real hungry 3 days should do, then introduce a small amount of flake food, keep this up...

    Feather Duster

I gotta tell ya, I've been told over and over again that feather dusters are very fragile and should be handled with care. Not true!!! I was moving a piece of rock the other day when I noticed a tugging, I stopped and looked behind it and the tail of the feather duster was pinned under it. This...

CAN I PUT ANYTHING IN A LOBSTER TANK?????

Lobster tank All the lobster tanks I've seen are pretty trashy looking, all scratchy, supermarket plexi-glass doesn't usually look showroom. They are usually pretty thick too, assuming they are the commercial kind that is, you would definitely have to custom build some sort of canopy. I would...

Do I need to feed my torch coral?

What species of torch is it? some are deeper water and some are 3 to 4 inches below the surface, that is what I meant by specific. If it is the one with the little balls at the end of it tentacles (one of the most common ones) then 4" below the surface will do just fine.

Do I need to feed my torch coral?

Not needed, but won't hurt it, can be beneficial, but doesn't really need it at all. What it does need to specific lighting to survive properly. It is not a good coral to have near any other types of coral, very aggresive. I had one once, gave it to a friend of mine, hated it, stung me everytime...

    Some pictures and questions

Just preferance, same as some people like to put those tacky backgrounds on it. I find a clear tank and clean glass looks too tidy and perfect. The coraline on the back and sides boxes in the tank and makes it look more natural, not to mention that it is beneficial to have all that coraline...
