Okay cool. We may wait in adding the larger fish until seeing if the snail births any further as I hear it is common for them to lay an egg every few weeks until they are finished, just to save myself the anxiety over the baby snails getting eaten...lol. If that sounds completely crazy then...
Hello-
We brought a Rabbit snail home to our 20g tank a couple of weeks ago.
Today we noticed a small little baby snail in the tank. It appears the snail gave birth.
I am wondering if anyone knows if there is anything special I should do here, or if I can just go about my regular feeding of...
Guys-
Still no nitrates after 3 months now!
I slowed down my water changes to about 20% every 2nd or 3rd day instead of daily and used Prime on off days of changing. Still nothing.
Fish are healthy and happy, but we are getting impatient here.
I bought an adjustable heater and plan to...
Thank you very much.
I only just started the Stability. No chemical media in the filter. It has a carbon filter and that's it other than the other various plastic components.
I will try doing a water change every 2-3 days and use the Prime daily. There is no potential harm in that? Should...
So, I am now about 6 weeks into my cycle, and despite ammonia levels of 1-2 ppm for weeks, I am not getting any nitrite at all.
Tank info-
*20 gallon
* 4 Zebra Danios in tank for cycling
* Hang on back Aqueon quiet flow 50 (note- I originally had the Aqueon 30, but switched to the 50 2 weeks...
Feeding once per day for the last week; previously twice. I have only been measuring once per day so I cannot say how much it rises. It is usually around 0.5ppm.
Hey guys-
I am 4 weeks into a fish-in cycle. 5 Zebra Danios in a 20g tank.
For the last 2.5 weeks or so I have been running ammonia between .25 to 1ppm. I have been doing daily 20-25% water changes for the past week or so, and the ammonia is not going down at all. I figure this is okay so...
Thanks again for the help guys.
Update-
Over the last handful of days, the tank has been cycling. Ammonia levels have risen to 0.5ppm multiple times and I have been doing 10-20% water changes just about every day.
Thanks!
Thank you!
The Danios have calmed down the last few days it seems. Perhaps just acclimating to the tank.
Is there a different centerpiece fish you would recommend for my tank? Maybe a Dwarf Gourami?
I have been feeding them twice per day with smallish feedings.
I went out and bought the API master test kit as I didn't trust the strips. It is giving me an ammonia reading og 0.25 where as the strips said 0, so this is good.
I will continue to use the test kit and do a partial change once...
Hey guys-
I have a 20g tank with 5 Zebra Danios in it that I am doing a fish-in cycle with, or attempting to.
I have been testing water chem daily with API test strips and the levels have not changed in over a week. I initially put only three in, no change for a week, then added two more...
I got home from work this morning and noticed one of my new Danios tummy was much bigger than I remember it being last night. Not scary big, but bigger for sure.
She is mostly hanging down near the bottom of the tank in a fake grass bed I have. She is chasing others away from that spot.
She...
Thanks for all of the help thus far guys. This aquarium thing has made me a bit OCD, but I am enjoying it.
Tank parameters- 20gallon (24 in long); Aqueon Quiet flow30 (upgraded filter to handle more fish down road); rounded gravel substrate; amm has consistently been at 0, ph 6.5-7; water is...
Thank you everyone.
Yes, there are plants (not live) in there and some places to hide.
I plan to return the larger Danio and get 3 more smaller ones. This will bring the school to 5 fish and hopefully lead my tank to begin cycling, and more peace among the fish.
Thanks.
