    Melafix and Pimafix ok?

Some of my rainbows are displaying some ragged tail fins - I think they've been nibbling on each other a bit and I wanted to add Melafix and Pimafix to the tank to help them heal. I know that certain meds aren't good for certain fish (i.e. cories) and I want to make sure that all my other fish...

    please id this corydoras

Agreed that it is a false julii, scientific name is Corydoras trilineatus. See this page regarding information: http://planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=508 We have 7 in our tank and they are GREAT! They love to school and seem to play with each other. They were definitely...

    Fish rot issue

On the big tank, we do 50% pwc's weekly. On the QT, we do 75% pwc weekly. I'm not sure a 5g hex has a spot to put activated carbon in it... but I'll take a look when I get home.

    Fish rot issue

Three of my Serpae Tetras (the first batch of fish to be added to my tank 1 1/2 years ago) have developed fin rot. As soon as we noticed, we put them in a 5g quarantine tank. We first did a full dose of Maracyn. There was a bit of improvement, but not much. So, once that was done, we did TWO...

    Will it work?

I have a 5 gallon Hex that I was thinking of bringing in to my work to put on my desk (so I can enjoy my fish at work, too!!)... I need something that wouldn't require care over weekends and was thinking of bringing in some of my baby/young guppies. If they start multiplying, I can bring some...

    Brackish Lighting?

No plants... I've heard that plants in a brackish tank are tough to keep, so I'm going with silk... I was going with this light, but do you think it's too much? http://www.bigalsonline.com/BigAlsUS/ctl3684/cp18360/si1379085/cl0/coralifefwt5aqualightdoublestriplight30

    Brackish Lighting?

When looking at lighting for my upgraded puffer tank, I noticed that they sell a lot of lamps as either FW or SW. Which do you choose for brackish?

    Lighting Recommendation?

I hope it goes away! I've had the 10 gallon running for around 6 months, and it seems to only get worse... how long does it take?

    Lighting Recommendation?

I read that it is a lack of light or an excess of silicates. If you don't think it's the light, how do you get rid of silicates?

    Lighting Recommendation?

I am upgrading my figure 8 puffer from a 10 gallon to a 20 gallon tank. In his 10 gallon with regular factory light/hood, there is a terrible brown algae problem. It can easily be wiped off the glass and rocks during weekly water changes, but it's pretty unsightly by the time that comes around...

    Snail eating fish?

I've never had to do it, but I heard if you put a leaf of lettuce in the bottom of the tank for a while, the snails will all climb on... then you just pull it out! That way, you don't have to buy a fish to take care of it for you.

    Wet/Dry filters a no-no for a CO2 injected tank?

I have a wet/dry and I co2 inject. I try to keep the water levels high enough so that there is less agitation at the top. I think that canister may be better, but mine is doing great. My plants are doing really well and co2 levels are fine.[/i]

    My new HOB

The biowheel should never have to be replaced... mine looks pretty gross and doesn't turn as well as it used to, but that's supposedly normal. I buy my cartridges from www.bigalsonline.com where I've found they are less than 1/2 the price as they are at my lfs!
