I would go with some small fish like 8-10 guppies and tetras. Thats what I have in my one 10 gallon tank and they are colorful and hardy fish for a beginner.
For your cycle to speed up get your temp up above 80 F. I bumped my temp up like that and it was done the cycle in a week. Took a total of 5 weeks of adding pure ammonia dosed to 4ppm every day. Hope this helps speed your cycle up.

Hey everyone I decided to get rid of my goldfish and go with some other fish. If I have no fish in my tank that is cycled and good for around 2 months should I keep adding pure ammonia to the tank to keep the beneficial bacteria alive until I get some more fish or would it be ok to leave...
Hey everybody I am just in the process of finishing the cycle on my 10 gallon FW aquarium. I have a basic charcoal filter, gravel substrate and fake plants and a long air stone for oxygen. I want to stock it with tropical fish with cool colors. Can you all give me an idea of how many I can stock...
I have a ten gallon that is finishing being cycled. I plan on putting tropicals in there. Any idea for me people. It will have a charcoal filter with gravel substrate and fake plants and air stones.

This is a used 55 gallon that I picked up on April 29th. It came with the substrate and all of the ornaments. I added water and prime and added my 4 goldies to the tank.
I allready had fish in the 10 gallon for a total of 30 days. After I transfered them to the 55 gallon I did a large PWC and tested for ammonia and nitrites. Ammonia has tested 0ppm for about a week now and nitrite was at about 1ppm with the fish in there. I have now put a nylon sock with gravel...
Well I do have a source of ammonia in the 55 gallon as I transfered all of the goldies from my 10 gallon in there. As for the 10 gallon with no fish what is the best way to cycle the tank now? All I have now is the filter running and I did a 50% PWC after the transfer of the fish into the other...
