    55gal LEDs and planted tank

IMHO I would keep the T5HO and just remove bulbs as needed. Based on your other thread and CO2, you then have the capacity to add remove light as you feel necessary. Not trying to be bossy, just my. 02. Good luck!

My wife and I breed them. The males are much bigger than the females, and more colorful.

    freshwater tank light?

Since you have fake plants I wouldn't worry much about it. 6500k is the natural sunlight spectrum. Has little to do with brightness. Two 18w 6500k's won't blind your fish - the natural sun is much brighter! But if they are cowering in the shadows after a few days, some rock work or extra...

    48 inch T5 light blinding

No. plants need CO2 for cell growth. Using the 2.5 WPG rule as a basis, you don't need to run CO2 unless the plants demand it. Typically, the more light at the right spectrum you have going into the tank, the more CO2 and ferts (macro and micro) you need to dose to keep your plants healthy...

    Is this aquarium safe?

If it has any ingredients that help resist mildew, then no, it is not safe. Read the small print and see if it says safe for aquariums. If not, don't buy it.

    55gal LEDs and planted tank

You must have linked the wrong ad. This says it has 45 LEDs per hood. It may be enough for low light planted tanks, but not enough for more challenging species of plants. And its definitely not enough for corals.

WCs - Dechlorinate before or after?

This is the way I look at it, right or wrong it works for me I add Prime as soon as I'm done draining the tank, then begin the refill process straight from the tap. The ingredients in Prime that neutralize chlorine and chloramines remain there until they have something to act on. The incoming...

DIY Filter for 55 Gallon Mbuna Tank

I should also note that you'll want to pump 5x-10x the volume of the tank per hour. So up to 550 gph at the outlet in your case, but you'll want a pump that has higher flow than that to account for pushing the water up to your tank (rise), and media types you're going to use. Remember that...

DIY Filter for 55 Gallon Mbuna Tank

I haven't done any DIY filter projects, except for small scale stuff. For either project, efficiency is all about how you build them. Sumps, canisters, hob, matten filter, whatever. You can either build or buy an over flow box that uses siphon to get the water over the side of the tank...

    Filter???

Absolutely true. The only thing you really have to do is be careful the increased flow of a bigger filter doesn't create a whirlpool inside your tank. Do yourself a favor and don't over-think it. The first filter you picked would work great with your setup.

    Propagating water wisteria

Let it get to the max height you want it, them snip off the top 1/2 to 2/3 and replant that in the substrate. The piece you took it from will branch and grown new stems.

    Filter???

Sounds like you're off to a great start. You will enjoy the performance of a canister compared to a HOB filter, and maintenance isn't that difficult at all once you get it down. My advice would be to run the old filter simultaneously with the new for about a month or two so the BB will...

    canister filter question...

If your tank and stand are relatively standard height, I don't know of a canister filter that wouldn't work for your set up. Have you measured the distances and compared the numbers?
