Sick Frogspawn caused by faulty heater

I need a little help. I had a defective marineland heater. My tank went up to around 90 degrees the other day before I noticed. I am fairly certain the heat up lasted less than 12 hours. I immediately took out the heater and used zip lock baggies of ice to gradually lower the temp in the...

    Feeding Corals

Thanks Mr. X. I haven't seen it with it's tentacles out yet. That may be because I leave my lights off during the day and on at night, when I am home, so I can see the tank. I will try and keep an eye on it and see if i can see it open. Trent

Are moonlights for a reef tank necessary?

Hey Everyone, I have CoraLife lighting that is turned on for about 9 hours a day, on my 30 gallon reef tank. I have read some interesting stuff on moonlighting but wanted to ask here; Is it necessary for the coral? If it isn't necessary is it at least helpful? Is it just to help showcase your...

Purple People Eater Palythoa with no color

I got a completely new fixture. The last one I had was a single flourescent bulb that had a coral sun actnic 420 bulb. I have since replaced this fixture with the coral life. Also, will back off on the microvert food as well.

Purple People Eater Palythoa with no color

I have had the tank about a year. One thing I forgot to mention is that I have only had the coral life lights for about two months. Before that, the zoas were under a fluorescent light that was a coral light, that was blue. That may have been the culprit. I am planning on moving them under my...

Purple People Eater Palythoa with no color

6 months is correct. They were very colorful the first three or four months, and then they bleached out on me.

Purple People Eater Palythoa with no color

Understood on the salinity testing. Since I am still a newbie, a couple of questions: 1.) What type of test kit/testor do you recommend for salinity? 2.) What ppm should be an acceptable level for salinity? 3.) How do I raise/lower salinity? {Water change?) Also, I have lowered the frag to...

I currently have four fish (2-tank raised clowns, 1 black and white damsel and a small Blue Regal Tang) I have recently added a Frog Spawn frag and a...
