I was told it helps against ich and other ailments also acts as destressor why do they sell fresh water aquarium salt. Not doubting you just trying to learn that all.

I have been watching him for over 24 hrs now no aggression what so ever and his mouth is actually very small. My johani actually pics on him a little. There not a very aggressive species towards other cichlid but to there own a different story. Especially a female. The mbuna have a new home...
They recommend hikari pelet food for staple which is what i feed my other fish I will probably return the mbuna in time. Thank you for the input I appreciate everything.
I have researched various sites and they have said 55 is the minimum for one and there is only one in there. Ph is almost the same they are 7.5to 8.5 pretty darn close to the same as mbuna. I know there not the same fish but lets face it these are not wild fish there captive bred like they no...
Today I went to my lfs looking for some food for the fishes when boom I see this huge fish called a redheaded cichlid. I had no idea what it was are they common etc he sold it to me for 20 bucks Canadian. I have it in a 55g with mbuna I no not the same kinda fish but they all seem to get along...
The light is a two bulb 65k 48" shop light I picked it up at canadian tire for 40 bucks. The bulbs cost 3 bucks each. The fish are as follows 1f 2m kribs 1m 1f red zebra 1m 1f kenyi 1 pleco 2m 1f sunshine peacocks 1m female peacock 1m electric yellow 1m blue johani. All seem to get along just...
Here is a new picture of our 55 gallon tank. The wife picked out the stand and I think it looks great. For once she actually picked something I liked lol. I will post better pics of the fish at a later time.
great info keep it coming I am very new to owning these filters or canisters in general. Know ??? filter floss instead of Buying the eheim were do i get it what does it look like. Also to pre cut the media for pads were do you get that too.
Thank you for all the replies I have saved around 140 bucks. I just went and bought 48" 2 x 40 w 6500 shop light and it is exactly what i was looking to do. It fit without any mods just have to paint it black because its silver reflected. The fish look so much better I will post a pic today...
I should have explained better details i want to accentuate the color of the fish. Is 65w single on each side good enuf. 2 x 65w around 23l inches to cover 48 inches across.
Very new so be gentle here. I just bought and have set up 55g tank, the lighting came with 2 23inch hoods plastic crap ones I would like to know what to buy that wont cost an arm and a leg for lighting. Any suggestion etc wattage for that size of tank. Thanks . the tank is exactly 48 inches long.
I have been keeping an eye on my male kenyi since seeing his bottom all puffed out now its back to normal he eats and is active weird. I have no idea I will continue to monitor him.
I just ordered 2 of these guys any one here no much about them diet etc I no they are lake malawi mbuna but any input would be great. I also got 2 more yellow labs and 2 sunshine peacocks coming the same time.
