    RO/DI water question

You just need to test it with a TDS meter. If you're at 0 its working, if you're around 10-20 its time to start looking for new filters, and if you're at 200, don't use it.

    PH too high

Yes, testing pH is looking for dissolved salts. So, if your rodi unit is working, you shouldn't have any salts. So, inaccurate test. Additionally, some tests include things like borate, which also don't give an accurate measure. Test your salt water just before you add it back to your tank...

    Very first saltwater tank

I swear I'm not intentionally raining on your parade, and I think its great that you're excited about this set up. But I want to be honest, so you know what you're getting into. Filling your tank with tap water has done you in for a lot of headaches in the future, and its going to take a lot...

    Craig's 75 Gallon Reef Tank

algae sounds normal. Part of the cycle as everything gets balanced out. Excess silicates, probably diatoms? Could also be cynobacteria. Got a picture?

    Coral

lol, clams on the half shell, not a reef tank. Just grocery store clams. I think that tank had a 2 foot RBTA and a 6 inch long maroon clown that had been together for something like 20 years...clown was a jerk though.

And there you have it. I love forums for exactly this reason, if you're not quite sure the answer will arrive in time. Only thing better is reddit. Over there you get your answer and 600 different stories and maybe a really terrible water color

    Can I have some opinions

Rule of thirds - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia But to each his own. I'd have definitely saved myself a bit of a headache if I could just be satisfied, but for me there's always a rock that can be moved just a little, or the flow could just be a little better in that corner. Then it all has...

    Saltwater filteration

its also more cost efficient than carbon, as it can be recharged with some bleach and a quick soak. I used to have a little bag in my sump come to think of it...I have no idea where it is now.

    Coral

A lot of people love that figure-eight puffer, or spotted puffer i think its sometimes called. When in adolescence its a brackish water fish, but once in adult hood its fully adapted to marine life, and in the while lives in the ocean...so its a little strange that people keep them in...
