Would these kinds of plants withstand a 7 inch oscar if the root system are fully developed and spread throughout the tank? I had some before, but the convicts were exposing the roots which killed it.
Before you say plants are not recommended for Oscars and convicts, I have two Java fern...
Is it worth it to use a DIY solution for a tank of this size? Would java fern benefit from CO2? I only have an amazon sword and some java fern at the moment.
I cracked one of the tabs on the motor trying to put it back into the filter box. I don't know how it could've cracked with so little effort. I'm afraid they will deny any warranty claims.
I can't decide between the Marineland Single Bright and the Coralife/Aqueon dual T5 NO.
Which one will give me better color and which one will give me more light?
Would they survive an Oscar or something of that size without a heater guard? The glass is shatterproof so I hope it holds up to collisions.
Has anyone had an Eheim shatter from a fish running into it? Let me know.
Just to make sure that I am not making a regretful purchase, I would like to know if Aqueon aquariums are good in terms of quality. I will be purchasing a 125 gallon.
Slightly off topic, is there a brand that's better than Marineland and Aqueon for aquariums?
My 125 gallon is going to be equipped with dual Aquaclear 110's. Will the surface agitation from these two filters render an air pump an unnecessary item? They are also quite loud for my taste.
I will be keeping these types of fish. I have kept some, but over the years I have encountered many opinions on what the ideal temperature is for these fish and I want a more definitive answer. I don't want to shorten their lifespan.

I have never kept live plants in an aquarium before and I want to to try it out. I want to keep some plants that do not require CO2 and are hardy.
1 Gold Severum
1 Blood Parrot
1 Jack Dempsey
2 Black Convicts (not breeding them)
1 Oscar
I do not want to use dirt, just fine gravel. Will this work?
How much gravel would be ideal for fish like Oscars, Convicts, Parrots, Jacks, and etc.? Some say 2 inches is the best. What is your opinion on this?
I'm getting fine gravel, if that really matters.
Would this be a good amount of fish in the aquarium?

2 Black Convicts (not breeding them)

The tanks is around 70"(width) 18"(depth) and 20"(height)
I saw a Jack at my lfs and when it opened its mouth, I saw this white round object in it. Could it be fish lice? I really have no idea what it looks like, much less what it would look like it a fish's mouth.
And the thing is, I'm getting one of those Jacks in the next month or two so it makes...
Would it be a good idea to use cold water when refilling an American Cichlid tank?
The reason why I would want to use cold water is to avoid any contaminants that may be in my water heater.
Any thoughts on this?
I can't seem to find any sort of official pricing for 100 gallon aquariums. I need a common brand that is carried by pet stores and local fish stores.
The Marina and Marineland aquariums suit my needs, but I have no idea about the cost.
Any tips, advice, and suggestions would be greatly...
I bought some Aquaclear Biomax for the 110 filter. It came in two small bags and each take up half of the tray length. I noticed that the media is much smaller than the included media for the 110. They both say BioMax as well.
Anyone know what is up with the size difference?
Would it be a good idea to use Matrix in place of the bag of BioMax included?
On SeaChem's website, they say it is ideal for canister filters, so I have a feeling they wont perform to their full potential in an HOB. The last thing I want is to have reduced bacteria levels.
I want Matrix...
I bought some little goldfish for my 90 gallon tank a month and a half ago. I didn't see signs of ick when I got them, but after a week of them in my tank, they starting developing some spots on their tails.
The temperature remained at 70F and above for the month and a half. They still onyl...
Currently, I have an Aquaclear 110 for my 90 gallon tank. Would something like a Fluval 206 be an adequate replacement? I heard the canisters are superior in filtration.
Can I get an undersized canister or do I have to get one that is rated for my tank?
