    Oyster type thingy?

At least they're not harmful :-) It makes you wonder how an earth these critters manage to survive on LR after it's been pulled out of the sea!

    Oyster type thingy?

I've just been reading about Abalone. It certainly seems like it could be a black, flat shelled one :-) Sadly though it seems as if they are becoming rare :-( It would be great if I had a couple of them! It's a good job my tank's a reasonable size, they get up to 7.5 inches!

    Oyster type thingy?

Yes it's mobile, and about an inch long. :)

    Oyster type thingy?

I hope someone can tell me it doesn't eat coraline, or anything else I need in the tank!

    Oyster type thingy?

I found this the other day, it gets underneath the rocks or in larger holes, but never on top of the rocks. It's shell actually looks quite soft almost as if it hasn't fully developed, and is very pearlescent<sp

    Clownfish choices?

One of my first fish in my tank was a maroon, I've had him for over a year now, however he's getting pretty big, and he's very aggresive (espesially towards me)!

    High nitrate!

Thanks everyone for their advise, the nitrate is gradually going down it's now around 60ppm so ALMOST at a safe level, and I didn't remove any rock :)

    High nitrate!

I'll leave tearing down the tank as a last resort then :-) I'll see what I can do with the gravel I can get to, and do the filters every week, and see what happens, fingers crossed! Thanks to all for their advise :-)

    false perc problem?

I'm certainly no expert, the only thing is...I've become paranoid of 0 reading nitrate results after finding my test kit was knackered. It's only when I used different test I found I had a high nitrate problem.

    High nitrate!

Thanks Hara, do you think it's necessary to pull out the rock and vac under them?

    That's ok Raker :-) !

    High nitrate!

The media that came with the filters are bio-chem stars and ceramic rings. The substrate must be crushed coral as it's white, sorry I can't be more specific!

    High nitrate!

I have an XP2 and an XP3, the media inside is what came with the filters, I did ask the bloke about adding a nitrate removing media, or changing it but he didn't seem to think it would help. I usually clean the filters every four months or so. The substrate is normal marine gravel at its...

    High nitrate!

Have been doing all the regular water changes e.t.c, however my nitrate is extremley high about 80ppm. I've increased water changes to 25% each week and have been trying to get a few extra ones in between. I use RO water and my tank is low stocked. I spoke to the LFS whom all have marine...

Regal tang or yellow belly hippo tang?

I took about 20 photos, and despite the fact this one's rubbish it's the best one! Unfortunatly his colours look very washed out in the photo, as he's far more iridecent than it shows and the blue and yellows are much darker.

1.5 Maroon nipping 3-inch Picasso Trigger

I believe Picasso triggers are one of the more gentle types, but I'm not sure if he would try to eat your maroon or not. Sadly one of my fish died in my Maroons little corner. I had to move a few rocks around to net it out. It was really difficult because I kepts getting bitten, it felt like...

Regal tang or yellow belly hippo tang?

Roughly just over a year ago I set up my marine tank. One of my first fish was a tiny Regal tang. Over the months I noticed his colouring seemed to fade from his belly and the blue became extremly dark. I thought he was ill and bleached. Anyhow, he's now very large and territorial. His...
