    potted anubias

I've had anubias for many years. Now I found some that comes in cute ceramic pots. It does have something that looks like cotton where the roots would be. I've never kept it in pots before. I always let the rhysome be free. DO I NEED TO TAKE THE ANUBIAS OUT OF THE CUTE POT? Will the...

    Possible Sick Red Tail Shark

Honestly he doesn't look sick. Sometimes they get scratched when swimming, but it's kid of hard to tell from the pic. Is he behaving differently than normal? I don't know what sex it its.

    Treatment resistant Whitespot.

Is whitespot the same as Ich? Any pics? I know I can't post anything here, I think the forum is old format.

Need help identifying bacterial?, fungi?, or parasitical infection?

I can't see anything. What kind of growths? Also, if you've had the fish for eight years.... well everyone dies sometime. Could be heading towards the end of his life cycle and that may be normal.

My mystery snail is acting strange

Honestly Mystery Snails are weirdos. How long have you had it? Mine was soooo weird when I first got it for a few weeks, now he's normal. But I was about to lose my mind too. Just chill. I don't think you have to worry. They do stuff like that.

    Finnex light water inside

I've had my Finnex 24/7 light fixture for about 4 years now and I really love it. I don't do planted tanks anymore, but keep some anubius (can't kill it). I have a strong airstone in the tank. The Finnex now has water/condensation inside it. I posted in another section about some stink...

    Stinky tank

A few months ago my tank started smelling fishy, especially after water changes. I've had tanks for over 30 years and have never had this problem. I clean the lip of the tank regularly so it's not that. My nitrates have been elevated, going to about 50 at times. They come down after water...

Can anyone help me determine if what I'm dealing with is ich please?

Dito Dalto. I'd recommend a glass thermometer, I used to have those "stick on the side of the tank, sticker thermometers." They suck. I never use chemicals, only raise the heat and that's all. It's hard to watch, but be patient. I then usually leave the heat up for about a week...

    Arowana Aggressiveness

This is my absolute dream fish, but that's it. It's a dream only. This guy is living the dream. Even with this beautiful tank, these fish jump, as it is their nature to eat insects and other low flying things. I'm really not sure how he keeps this guy in the tank. Also, it seems like he...

Does anyone have a biotope tank?

Does anyone out there have a biotope tank? Is it specific to your region? I'm moving to Florida in a couple years, and would LOVE to do a freshwater biotope. Just looking for some inspiration.

    New SA/CA Tank

Great thread, thanks for sharing. Your Oscar is the star of the show, he looks like he's got personality. He's grown since you started this! Ha. Keep posting pics.

    New 55 gallon Setup.

Last year I had a similar situation. Because I'm super cautious I filled the new tank partly with new water, but also filled it with a few buckets of the old tank water instead of throwing it out. I also put my new sand in. I ran the filter from the old tank on the new tank. I ran the...

    Keeping African butterflyfish?

Are you sure they are brackish? I had no idea. Hope someone can help with the height of their jump. Anyone? I just wanted to share one of my favorite videos. Isn't this tank the best? I can see why you want one!:D

    No CO2 Planted Tank?

OH oh... just came by this thread and saw that you're not supposed to submerge bamboo. Whoops. Why not? I've had mine submerged for about 4 months. What's going to happen? Seriously, should I take it out?

    Electric Blue Acara

I didn't know they grew to be 5 inches. How many do you keep in a tank. Do you have tank mates?

Adding canister filter made water less clear??

Hi, just had to chime in. I had a similar experience few years ago and reverted back to 2 HOB's. I've never had cloudy water before or again. Yeah it sucks, and you spend so much time and money and it really stings. Let us know if anything works.

    Benefits of CO2?

For C02 tank, just google a welding place close to you, or a beverage supply place. They usually sell them. I googled it then called and asked around.

    Benefits of CO2?

I have a low light tank with a C02 system (C02 is the best choice you can make with any planted tank). I keep a Ram in the tank too...super healthy BTW. :fish2: I keep a Finnex light on a lower setting about 5-6hours daily. I keep the C02 on for 6-7 hours a day. The C02 has completely saved...

    Electric Blue Acara

Hi everyone. I don't need any fish at all, but from time to time see the most beautiful EBA's (in fact was just reminded of them in another post about EBR's). I know I can just look them up and find their stats, but what are your personal experiences with them? How many do you keep at a...

Went to LFS today, they had Electric Blue Rams

Could anyone else chime in to help Grattu? Is a Ram is a good match in a tank with a convict? I don't believe it's a safe mix as Convicts can get big and aggressive and Rams stay small and territorial. Hmmm....a little help?

    Thinking of adding a plecostomus?

So true. Plecos are such unique looking creatures, I had nooooo idea how much they pooped, and I always told everyone, "They clean the tank." I can laugh now, but sort of cringe at the same time. Then I think of how we treated goldfish...ugh....it's painful....

What algae-eating fish/invert would you recommend for a small tank (15 USgal)?

Snails are always cool. I have 5 Otto Cats, I'd recommend them. They're cute, adorable, tiny and they hang out together and clean glass all day. That sun thing is usually the culprit, I had the same problem with one end of my tank. I finally had to put a fake scene/background on that side to...

Went to LFS today, they had Electric Blue Rams

Wait a minute, did Grattu say what type of cichlids are already in the tank? If not, what type are in the tank already? That is super important to clarify as there are other types of cichlids around (yes I mean the African type). Also, Coralbandit, nice work. You have dream fish.:brows:

    Thinking of adding a plecostomus?

Oh yeah, that fish two posts above is BAD!!! Looks prehistoric, right? These days it seems like everyone's so much more educated about fish, but sometimes I wonder...if we were treating fish so poorly (years ago), then why did they seem to live and thrive so long. Over the years I've had...

    Large water change

I was just wondering how often you do water changes in general, and what percent are you changing? The problem with having the goldfish in this set up is that they are cold water fish and they poop so much that (in a heated tank) they will send your levels crazy. I'm not saying to take him...
