2 leopard bushfish
6 upside catfish

I had forgotten about the upside-down cat! From what I read they seem to be active fish that school to a degree , that sounds nice.
I am not against a cichlid per-say ,but I don't care for Kribs and their are not that many other options for a peace african cichlid.

Pleco don't compete for food with ropefish so they are fine. I would recommend the bristle nose pleco.
When choosing bottom dwellers to go with ropefish go with ones that are not likely to eat what you feed the ropefish.
I have finally decided that I would like to start a African sort of tank. So far I know I am going to have these:
Around 12 congo tetra
1 Ctenopoma acutirostre(might keep two but territory issues)
1 African catfish of some sort.
Cory can kill fish that attempt to consume them due to small spurs located near their heads. I would not risk keeping them with Rope Fish who without a doubt eat what will fit into their mouths ,the reason some say you can keep rope fish with smaller species is that ropefish are not good at...
Their is no reliable way to sex the angelfish from what I understand?
They pearls are fine in a group you say? If you mix other gourami species will their be a problem?
