    mmm, i was thinking it could of bean a lack of molybdenum in the water which can cause corraline to loose its colour and turn white allmost over night. there is an calcareous algae that is white but i cant remember the name of it at the moment, but to get it you would need good lights and high...

    From what you have said it looks like you are useing tap water, not sure about the US but in the uk we get No2 and No3 in tap water and also silicates (which can cause algae! i would recomend useing an R/O unit if you get these in the US. also what is the temp in your tank as the S/G changes...

    also i will just add to what fishfreek has said. run a "foam filter" in the main tank all the time and when adding to the "Q" tank place the filter in there. when you have finished with the "Q" tank put the filter back in the main tank but replace the foam in the filter so as not to contaminate...

    moonlight tubes give a blue light. blue may not look bright to us but it dose to the fish. IMO dont leave them on 24/7 as what has allready been said, 12 on 12 off with the blue. and 8 on and 16 off for the white. if useing more than one of each colour tube, fade them in as not to stress the...

    Overflow size for 65 gallon?

    i would go with the 1.5, it would be a nightmare to to upgrade from 1 to 1.5 if you ever needed to. The bigger the outlet the better and at the end of the day the water can only get out and the speed of the pump returning it!! HTH dan
