90 gallon gallon FOWLR.
Anybody got anything laying around they care to sell?Doesn't need to be expensive,or high wattage or even very pretty because it will be under the hood.
Figured I'd try here first before shopping elswhere.
Thanks,
Fatz
This fish is doing well and has been for 1.5 years or so.The owner asked me what it was exactly? (don't know).... and how big might it get?(no clue).
But I told him I know people who do know ;)
Hi guys!!
Its been a while since I've posted and all is well with the fishes. All the tanks in my sig are still up and doing great thanks to these great forums.
BUT...now I gotta move em.All of em.Not very far,but from one house to another.Any useful tips would be great although I think I know...
Well I'll add a few thoughts:
Get the number to one or less...in all honesty if it were my tank I'd get it to around .25.
Then do this-I've been chugging along since, but only today did I add some seed material. My lfs wouldn't give up some filter media (may try another later)
When starting a...
Change 75-80% of the water and get the number down to 1 or less then one.
With a number that high your waiting for a LOT of bacteria to develope for conversion. There simply is no need for that or the wait that will come along with it.There is ZERO upside for having that number that high right...
Take a look at 30" deep at .6/gal...yeah .6wpg.
Keep em low light and a few fert tabs....before you know it you get tired of clipping em lol.

You have more potential given your specs...just passing on what...
Yes you can buy individual kits (bottle and tube for each).
Are you testing before or after the PWC?
If After make it before....again after if you want to compare (and a good idea while cycling),but the before number will be more telling.
FWIW I would not do another change until I tested...
Test it everday.Be prepared to change water darn near everyday as well.
2 times a week is just not enough in the spot you are likely in....And 3-4 days can/will be long enough for your water to become pretty toxic and you will have more losses.
Abd I'll second the notion to forget the PH...
I'll agree...nitrates are most probably being consumed by the lillies as quickly as the are generated.
Top or bottom should test the same with even the slightest gentle agitation (fish swimming) imo.
yup...my 29g is a freaking jungle if I let it go to long.Lit @ 1.2 wpg and stocked with low light plants.
Live plants is a different challange that both you and your fish will enjoy.
Right.Big changes if you need em.Two back to back if you must (I had to do it a few times).
Keep in mind that the amount you feed will directly effect how fast the trites rise so keeping the feeding light will work in your favor.
I'd add the shrimp. If you test positive for ammonia after a few days pull it out.
Then keep testing.
If it all falls back to zero,I would call it all good...esp with a seeded filter.
JMHO...but the fish are gonna offer less ammonia then the shrimp as it is...no down side to adding fish if you...
It is!Just keep testing and keep that number down.Having high nitrites is a fish killing situation.
Also, keeping the number low means less bacteria will have to grow to consume it...which will result in the eventual nitrates.
Keep us posted!
All of it if you can get it.Just offer to replace it all.The more the better imo. He'll save a few bucks and won't notice a thing in his tank.
DO keep it wet in declorinated water though.
Make sure your tank is dechlorinated, make sure the heater works well and holds your set point (over at...
Man you are really gonna start to hate me lol.
Its a good thing that the ammonia is low.It shouldn't be zero, but if its close enough to look like zero thats good for the fish.
Now this important.Right now you test at 0/0/0.Test it again for all 3 tomorrow. If its ammonia thats positive (it will...
In my experience you will be fine to just replace the whole unit, tossing the old and putting on the new.
No harm in swapping media,or running em both as suggested though.
When I saw your intial post about the filter size I thought the intial tank size was 55g.How many gals per hour does that filter move?
#4 probably won't work.
Whats the purpose of #6?
Hows the water testing?
A minicycle would include an ammonia spike as well as nitrates and possibly nitrites. That would be Fact.
I spent some time keying in that post (bad typer) earlier today...and I did it for all the right reasons.I guess we will both pretend its not there from here on out...
Mollies can be FW or brackish as I understand it.While I'm not 100% sure,I'm pretty sure that they will not live at the salinity levels needed for "true" SW fish.
I have the rena xp3 on my 55t hex and I have to throttle back on the discharge a bit the keep the flow down a bit.Using the spray bar helps with disapation as well.
