    75G stocking ideas

Hey y'all, Stocking up my new 75G tank. I'm not a noob with cycling, etc so yeah it's cycled and ready to go. The biggest tank I've ever had was a 46 bowfront so this is a massive upgrade for me in terms of opening doors for new species. I currently have 4 cory cats (survived the Texas freeze...

    Help me choose my plants

I have some Anacharis in there right now and some Bacopa and I for sure want some Crypt Wendtii and Undulata. I will have a good Marineland light that was used in my other tank (Texas ice storm killed everyone) so I will have high light but no co2. This tank is a 20 long. I'm also doing DIY...

    Identification please

Got some neon tetras the other day and these popped up. I had some rogue snails not that long ago but haven't seen them since. My tank also houses corydoras and a single basic pleco The eggs are placed on 3 different sides of the aquarium glass.

    Fluval 15 flex

About to order my Fluval 15 gallon flex and because of the dimensions its perfect for the stand I have already. I'm planning on going heavy on plants and scape in general to get a jungle feel. I need fish recommendations. The water here in texas is pretty hard. It runs 8ph out of the tap.

Is this some sort of mouth fungus?

This is the 2nd day of this. I honestly thought it was brine shrimp left overs when I first saw it cause that's what I feed them and the 2 batches of fry I have gotten.

    Multie fry

Just got some new fry the other day. Any suggestions on how to feed them? I've seen people say moss balls. I usually feed the adults crushed up cichlid pellets. I have frozen bbs, blood worms, beef hearts, and vegetable tablet things.

    Julidochromis marlieri magara

Got 5 Julie's magara and 7 multis and they're working out their territories right now. 2 of the Julie's are noticeably bigger than the other 3. 1 is medium sized and the other 2 are pretty small. They're picking on the 2 smaller ones. Do they need to be taken out now or eventually? It's not...

    Rocks from a local lake

We have a big local lake here in Texas that obviously has rocks in it. I know this question has been asked a thousand times but can I use these? Buying rocks is just flat out expensive from any store. I plan on pressure washing them and then the vinegar test on them. Anything else to be aware of...

    Juli's and Shellies

Is there any species of Juli's and Shellies that can co-exist without killing each other. I know Shellies are known for killing fish, sometimes bigger than them. My stocking idea is: Pair of Julidochromis marlieri 1M Multi 3F Multi I do NOT plan on breeding them. Although if it happens, I...

    Cycle

So I set my tank up about almost 2 months ago and just let it run. When the cycle started ammonia levels have just stayed constant at .5 to 1ppm. Nitrites spiked for a couple days last week and now are at 0. Nitrates spiked to 160ppm and are at 0 now. I did try to dose ammonia but got it up...

    Stalled cycle

My tank has been going for almost a month now. I've done probably 3 water changes (got kinda lazy) I just did a 40% WC and the ammonia went from 1.0 to 0.5 ppm. The nitrites are still steady between 2.0 and 5.0 ppm. Do I just need to keep doing big WC's or something else? I've been using...

    My Shell Dweller's thread cont'd

My last post was over 108 days old and so unfortunately, I could not revive it. I talked to Mr. Dave over @ Davesfish and he gave me some good advice on which species I could keep in my 46 bowfront. Ocellatus and Temporalis for shellies. He also mentioned Julidochromis ornatus and Julidochromis...

    New to cichlids

So I'm moving in December to a newly built house. I want to completely tear my tank down from a heavily planted garden to a cichlid tank. What are the best cichlids for a 46 bowfront tank? My pH usually sits between 7 and 7.5 I got my sand and rocks and some ideas there but have no idea what...

    BGK eating questions

I have had Ernie for around 8 months now. He's gone from 5 inches to a whooping 10 inches in that period. He's almost ready for a new home out of my 46 bowfront and into our 75g made specifically for him. I have noticed that my BGK is way more shy than some I have seen. I have never once seen...

    Double Dosing Excel

I had a thread recently about BBA. I have since removed the leaves with heavy amounts on it and I'm using H2O2 to spot treat. I'm using 20ml per 40 gallons with a syringe. Is it ok to double dose on the Excel? I have heard you can but just want to make sure I'm doing everything correctly.

    Starting Shrimp Tank

Hey guys, I'm starting a Shrimp tank. I have decided on a few things I want a carpet and high light. Both I think are achievable with this setup. I have a "up to" 30g pressurize co2 system I think made by Fluval. I got it for free so what the heck. I'm thinking about a 5 gallon tank Sponge...

I got lazy with my tank

Now I have BBA.......everywhere :nono::nono::nono: I got back to dosing excel everyday, my weekly water changes, etc. I even went as far as to spot treating Hydrogen Peroxide. It did help and some of the algae is turning gray in color. I just don't want to OD on accident and kill off my live...

    Seeds good?

Long story, short. I'm starting a 2.5 gallon shrimp tank. I have my substrate picked out, my sponge filter, my air pump, etc. I need plant advice. I was thinking about seeding it to get that carpet look. Do most of those plants require co2? I have excel that I use in my other tanks and it works...

    Knifefish species

I currently have a BGK but he's slowly out growing his aquarium and I'm upgrading him soon to a bigger home with more room and small fish to feed on. I've been reading about brown ghost knife, barred knifefish Some say these species don't get as big as the black ghost knife. Also, I'm smack...

    BGK cave

I see on YouTube all these little caves that seem tucked into a bunch of plants. I want one for my BGK. Any ideas what they're made of or good material to make one out of? I tried clear tubes but he always goes back to the same spot. Wedged between rocks and he has just enough room to lay down...

    Caves for BGK

Hey guys. I got some epoxy stuff from a friend and was thinking about constructing a cave out of rocks for my BGK. Quick question about that... How to ship fish

Hey guys and gals, I was wondering how yall ship your live fish. I'm overstocked and need to rid myself of my huge bioload. LFS closed down recently so it's driving an hour to another fish store or try and hassle with the people at Petco that they don't know what they're doing. So I'm gonna...
