I did clean it. The bag said to soak it, and I did. The bag said that it's for salt or freshwater, as well as terrariums. I guess I just need to toss it as a learning experience and go buy some different sand. Sheesh. I'm not sure if it's argonite, it just looks like it. Thanks.

Ok, I have this stupid sand, that I asked about in the other post. It is sooo light that everytime my teeny little ADF kick off to swim, little balls of what I assume is Argonite float up to the top of the tank. What is the purpose of argonite? And how the heck am I gonna vaccum this stuff...

I'm switching my 10 gallon to an all ADF tank, so today at LFS I bought a lil bag of "marine sand" for the substrate. When I got it home, it said to soak it, which I did, for about 10 minutes (didn't say how long). So, when it's soaking, all these little ball looking things come up to the top...

I love these lil frogs.. and I would like to have an ADF only tank. Right now I have a 10 gallon with 3 guppies in it. I think I will move the guppies to the 29 gallon, and make the 10 gallon just for frogs.. soo.. how many can I put in there? I already have one, and he needs some buddies. Thanks!

yes, ADF shed their skin pretty frequently from what I understand. I have had mine about a month, and the first time he did, it scared the crap out of me!!! But no fear, your frog is fine!

We are leaving tomorrow for 5 days.. and I was wondering how my dwarf frog will fare without food for that long. I know the fish will be ok.. but if the ADF might starve in that amount of time.. I can try to find someone to come feed him. Thanks!

I have 4 of them, 3 females from a friend and one male from LFS. The male's tail fins is very brightly colored, and he also has spots of like, purple and orange all over his lil body. The females are pretty plain looking.. is that just the way the species is, or are they dyed (I hope not!)? Thanks!

I feed my ADF with a teaspoon when he comes to the surface. Sometimes, I can't get the mysis shrimp he likes thawed out in time to feed him. I have been keeping some thawed out in the fridge to make this easier, but was wondering how long I could leave them like that? Thinkin maybe 3-4 days?? Tanks!

Hey everybody! I just wanted to let everyone who has been so helpful know that the tank seems to be levelling off! Ihave had no fish deaths in close to 2 weeks now, and everybody is doing great! They are all growing really fast, and swiiming all around! I think I am going to take the corys back...

When I do PWC, can I add all the water first, THEN add the Aqua Safe?? I have been putting just a litlle bit in each bucket, and I think I'm using too much, b/c my bucket will only hold about 3 gallons.. Thanks!!

Well. I do gravel vacs when I do my weekly water changes.. I admit to overfeeding a little bit. Or a little more than a little bit.. okay.. maybe way too much.. I guess it's kinda like the only interaction you get, and I want to feed them.. and my kids do, too.. then hubby gets home and HE wants...

This is the first time I tested for nitrates b/c I just got the kit. Can levels like that be caused by overfeeding? I do water changes every week. about 30%. I just did one 2 days ago. I did a 50% change b/c the instructions with the kit said to do it if the levels were that high. sheesh..

Welp,, guess I figured out what was killing the fish!! I just got my nitrate kit (they were out of nitrite).. and it tested as high as it can go! I am doing 50% PWC right now.. what else can I do to get them to come down!?!?!?

I assume you're talking about cardinal tetras. I think the best bet would be to get more cardinals. They are schooling fish, and 6 is a minimum number for them. Maybe try 6 more? I am new to fishkeeping as well. so if anyone can, please throw out some more ideas. The rusty stuff is probably...
