    Guppy Breeding Situation

If you’re planning on breeding guppies, I would suggest buying a nice trio of a strain that will sell well. You don’t want to end up with a bunch of babies that no one will buy, so look online and find a strain that’ll sell and that you enjoy. The investment is worth it. As for preventing...

    Mystery Snail Shell Crack

To me it looks like he had an injury where the new growth of the shell occurs, and he’s unable to grow new shell in that area, hence the gash running up the side of his shell. Definitely check the pH, GH, and KH amd increase them if needed.

    Aquascaping a 26 Bowfront

It isn’t a corner, though from the angle in that photo it’s hard to tell, lol. Your tank looks really nice! I’ll look into dward sag. What kind of crypts do you suggest? Also, are root tabs okay with invertebrates? The ones I have contain copper, so I don’t use them anymore.

    Aquascaping a 26 Bowfront

Hi! I’m going to be aquascaping my 26 bowfront, which I recently set back up. Last time I sort of just stuck hardy plants in it haphazardly, but this time I’d like to use some aquascaping principles to make it look a little nicer. I figured I’d ask you aquascaping aficionados. Lighting is LEDS...

    Betta Fin Rot Help

Yeah, she’s been feeding him frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp, no pellets. She refuses to give him pellets because she thinks they’re unhealthy for him. I don’t know if she has any Epsom salts, but I can ask her tomorrow. How would she does those? I’ll also pass on that she should vacuum the...

    Betta Fin Rot Help

I’ve been watching your Betta heal, and you’ve done a great job! I’m very glad he’s recovering. I hope my friend’s little guy will follow suit. I’m not entirely sure how her Betta ended up with fin rot, but I’m guessing since she got him from Petco, he could’ve already had it from sitting in...

    Betta Fin Rot Help

Friend and I figured out a better system for caring for him. He’s in the Kritter Keeper, which has the water changed in it daily. While his Kritter Keeper is being water changed, he gets put into a separate smaller container and fed brine shrimp and bloodworms. Then he gets his methylene blue...

    Best place to get fish?

I agree, local fish stores that are privately owned are often wonderful. Their fish tend to be healthier, though sometimes slightly more expensive, but the price is worth it for healthy fish. As for Petsmart, it depends on your local Petsmart. Some are better than others. The last thing you want...

    Help!! What’s this fish?

Is it possible to return the fish to the store and let them know it isn’t what you asked for? Then you can get the fish you wanted, and not have to guess at the care requirements of whatever type of fish they gave you.

    Thermometer recommendation?

I agree with King Fisher. I have that digital thermometer and much prefer it over the plain glass tube one I used to have. It reads well, is easy to hide, and makes checking the temperature easy.

Looking good! Can’t wait to see it all come together.

I have no idea what's happening

I’m glad they’re acting normal now! Make sure to keep an eye on ammonia and nitrite anyways, until the tank cycles.

I have no idea what's happening

Yes, I believe those will house beneficial bacteria. If you know of someone who has a cycled tank and uses the same cartridges, you can ask them to give you their old one.

    Stacking tanks

Okay, if the top tank is empty, this might be possible. If you look up “tank topper”, many people who keep terrestrial hermit crabs or reptiles use smaller tanks atop larger ones, provided the smaller one on top is not full of water or too much substrate. However, I’ve never seen a 75 on top of...

I have no idea what's happening

I meant the biological media, which is often foam, sponges, or small beads. According to Drs. Foster and Smith, “Commercial biological media is... porous rock or pebble-like material, ceramic cylinders, plastic balls, coarse mesh-like material...“ Filter Media: Types and Functions | Animal Planet

    Stacking tanks

Would the tank be empty, or filled with water? I’m leaning towards probably not, if it’s filled with water. Water weighs a lot, and you might have issues with that amount of weight being supported.

I have no idea what's happening

If you have access to filter media or gravel from a tank that is already cycled, you can “seed” your tank with the beneficial bacteria already established there. This means you are taking gravel or parts of a filter that already houses beneficial bacteria, which you can introduce to your tank...

I have no idea what's happening

The beneficial bacteria goatnad is describing are part of the nitrogen cycle. At the end of this I’ll link you an article about it, since it’s very, very important to fishkeeping. I would advise reading and learning more about it. Beneficial bacteria, sometimes abbreviated as BB, are bacteria...

    Advice on Reviving Moss

Yeah, I’ve been dechlorinating the water as always, but I’ll change it less often. I’m thinkimg I’ll move the greener moss into a glass jar to put in the windowsill in the sunlight (which is finally back after all that rain.)

    Advice on Reviving Moss

I’ve been changing the water in the bucket daily, and I’ll work on finding it some sunlight. It’s been very overcast lately, but it should clear up soon. Thank you for the advice!

    Advice on Reviving Moss

Long story short... a friend ordered some Christmas moss off of Amazon it was not what they expected. Now I’m trying to revive it a little. It came in rather scraggly and brown (not to mention it smelled horrendous). I’m not exactly a plant whisperer, so I figured I’d consult those of you here...

    Betta Fin Rot Help

He’s having daily water changes and he had his first methylene blue dip today. She’s stopped the antibiotics for now, and will be dipping and changing him and his water daily until he recovers.

star wars themed tank and model kits in aquariums

I don’t know about model kits and or modge podge, but I do know that lego bricks are safe for use in aquariums. The plastic is inert, and you can use silicone to cement them together if you feel the need to. I’m not sure if a lego model would work for what you’re trying to create, but I figured...
