    Multis and Brichardis in 70L?

You need a minimum of a 55g tank for both Multies and Brichardis, and that's if you have rocks on one end, shells on the other, and a wide expanse of sand in the middle. The Multies are fine in a 10g if you've only got a few and only one of them is male. You need at least 3-4 shells per Multi...

Please help! 110L/29 gallon tank stock help

A 29g is a bit small for mollies. I'm also pretty sure that cories tend to prefer small groups, like 6 or so, unless they're schooling fish. Your tetras are a wonderful choice of schooling fish, you just need to watch for any fin nipping, the larger the school the less issues you'll have. A BN...

    Beginner Puffer for 90g

I use Este's black sand, and the tank is currently infested with ramshorns. I'm fully prepared to feed them shrimp and the like, I've done a bit of basic research before. I can't afford to turn the tank to a fully saltwater tank, I'm already maintaining a 55g reef, that's why I didn't convert...

    Beginner Puffer for 90g

Okay, I've decided on a pufferfish for my 90g. I just don't know what species yet. Does anyone have any recommendations for a beginner puffer for a 90g, fresh<->brackish, that's highly interactive? It'll be a species only tank, either as a single specimen or a small group, depending on the...

    Brackish 90g Stock Suggestions?

Were the smaller Mudskippers more social? As in, would they be okay in larger group if they were in a 90g?

    Brackish 90g Stock Suggestions?

The tank is a 90g. It's 48″ x 18″ x 24″, and weighs over 1,000lbs when fully setup... What exact species of Mudskipper? I think there's 2-3 in the hobby.

    Brackish 90g Stock Suggestions?

Captive bred options always have priority, unless they're so finicky that they can't be successfully bred in captivity and raised to the point that captive bred is more readily available to the hobby. I've kept Sailfin Mollies before in a reef tank, occasionally my LFS get some with wild...

    Brackish 90g Stock Suggestions?

I've seen all three in my lfs. I'd like to get more peaceful fish, or ones that don't get too big. I've even seen leaf fish! The puffer option would be the biggest, since I can't have one on my reef tank and I've heard that they've got plenty of personality!

    Brackish 90g Stock Suggestions?

I've been thinking about doing something new with my 90g. It's currently freshwater, but I'll be doing something new once I rehome it's current occupants. I've been thinking about a brackish tank. My current ideas are either Puffers, Mollies, or Mudskippers. The Puffer would likely be...

    My Odd Couple

I picked these two up from my LFS yesterday. I ordered them in two weeks ago, and they were ready to come home! They were already paired up when I got them.

Conflicting advice on stocking an Oscar tank...

I once had a pair of Oscars in my 90g. I had a monster pleco, a 10"+ female Red Oscar, a half a dozen silver dollars, and her two mates. My female was the one I started with, I got her when she was a very ugly 2.5". When she got bigger I got her a mate, and she accepted him, for a while. The...

    Blueside Fairy Wrasse?

I just picked up this little gem at my LFS. I had to get it ordered in, and it looks a lot prettier than the pictures I'd seen of Cirrhilabrus cyanopleura when I was researching Cirrhilabrus species for my 55g reef tank. It's pretty small right now, maybe around 3" or so?

    55g Stock Suggestions

I've got a True Percula. The clowns were from the same batch at my LFS, and were pretty small. The tank that I just upgraded them to is a 55g, so plenty of space.

    Zoanthids

Try the ID gallery at Zoanthids.com. It's what I used to ID my Zoas I got from my LFS. It was easier since I'm not very good at taking pictures, and I could compare/contrast them by staring at my Zoas during the moonlight phase, and comparing them to the pictures.

    Zoanthids

Interesting. Looks like you've got two different types there. Possibly three. Try taking a picture of them under moonlights, it's easier to ID them that way.

    55g Stock Suggestions

I already have a female clown. She's been on her own for a while, since she killed the one I got with her, and I thought the other one was going to be the female since it was slightly larger. I've thought about an Orchid Dottyback, love the color and the captive bred options, but I can't have...

    55g Stock Suggestions

I'm upgrading my 32g Biocube reef to a 55g on Wednesday. I'll be moving my Zoa frags, emerald crab, snails, and GSP rock to the new tank. Planned fish: I know for sure I'll get a smaller clown to be sure it's male. I plan on having a Purple Firefish, or something else purple...

    DIY Wooden Stand

Lumber has gone way up. The lumber I have is leftovers from redoing the kitchen. Most of it's in full pieces. I'm pretty sure it's pine. Or at least whatever was cheapest at the time. A 40 gallon breeder is 36"x18"x16". It'll be over 450lbs when all is said and done. I want it to look nice...

    DIY Wooden Stand

I've been thinking about upgrading my reef tank to a 40b, but it's hard to find decent stands when on a budget. I was thinking about making one out of wood. Would I need 1x4s, or would 2x4s work? What about sealing it from damage, the best coating to protect it from water damage?

    40b Stock Suggestions

It's a 40g breeder. The current tank is a 32g Biocube. I've got over 30lbs of base rock in it, but the tank's been setup for at least two years, and I'll have to get more when I upgrade it to a 40b. My True Percula is still pretty small, and I know she's either female already, or headed that...

    40b Stock Suggestions

I'm thinking of upgrading my reef from my 32 Biocube to a 40b. It currently has a small True Percula, which killed the other one I got with it, five Margarita snails, a female Emerald Crab, a few Zoa frags, and a rock covered in a GSP. I'd plan to have a Goby, if my LFS can get one in...

Male dwarf gourami goes crazy when the light is turned off

Definitely. A non planted tank only needs about 6-8 hours of light a day. The more light, the worse the algae can be. Planted tanks need about 8-10 hours of light per day, and it can decrease algae, since the plants take up all of the nutrients from the algae. I've had a 10" female Red Oscar act...

Male dwarf gourami goes crazy when the light is turned off

Since the room light is still on, he could be seeing his reflection. Male Dwarf Gouramis are a lot like a male Betta, but not quite as aggressive. He could be seeing his reflection as a rival male, and they get even more aggressive to other males if there's a female. Is the tank planted? 12...

Stocking Advice 60 Breeder Tanganyikan Community

I can't say anything about Altolamprologus, but I've had Julidoshromis and Multis in the same 60g before. They all ended up spawning. I had a fine, dark sand as a substrate, at least 3-4 shells per Multi, and about 15 cichlid stones from Underwater Galleries. There was two main issues. The...
