    My Super OverStocked Tank

Another option is to maybe give them one at time to the LFS, that way I don't feel the loss all at once and the tank may need lesser cleaning. My concern is what if my LFS sells these fish to a kid who is going to keep them in a 1 Gallon bowl ? Vijay 0X

    My Super OverStocked Tank

At this point I am also cosnidering feeding them fewer times a day, or maybe even alternate days. The hard thing in this regard is that they beg for food so hard, specially when I am eating in front of them it is hard to say no. Vijay

    My Super OverStocked Tank

The filter is not going to help as the fish produce sooo much waste that it will get clogged real fast. When I don't watch them, sometimes my Gold fish travel sooo fast and come to the surface and then immediately touch the bottom so fast like cat fish. It is truly amazing to see them develop...

    My Super OverStocked Tank

This is very true. I ahve a friend who is going on a cruise to the Caribbean to beat the stress for 1 week. Guess what ?!! I have a Caribbean in my home in my fish tank that I can see every time I am stressed. Yes, I can also give them to an LFS should I move. My only worry is for the guy with...

Hi everyone: I am postingg this message to get this off my chest. I have a 20G tank with 3 Gold Fish, FanTails, each about 3 inches long and about 3 years old. When I got them they were small and then they grew. They love veggies and get a wide variety of veggies including Spinach, bananas...

    Problem: Carbon Filter Bag Broke.

This post reminded me how big my GF have grown. I started doing water changes once every 3 days. Also one GF was sick and hardly used to swim, this was a few months ago. Giving peas helped. Then I started experimenting a little. I gave them other veggies: Cantelope, pineapple, banana...

    Problem: Carbon Filter Bag Broke.

Thanks Tank Girl. I am just here for this one brief stop. Actually I measured my GF. The biggest one is 3.5 inches and the other two are 2.5 inches. I love fish keeping and honestly wish I had the time, space and resources to keep more. However, I have to accept reality. Fish keeping is a very...

Hi everyone: Back here after a long time !!! I hardly even lurk here. Just happy with my 3 Gold FIsh in a 20G tank. Here is what happened today. My carbon filter bag broke loose and all the carbon particles started getting into the tank, slowly. I just noticed it today. I hated cleaning it as...

    Sick Gold Fish

Thanks for all the responses. Have to admit that I still haven't learned to tell the sex of fish properly. I have been starving this fish for some time now. Feeding a lot lesser than normal. Sometimes even once in three days. All this seems to have helpedout a lot. This fish is a lot more...

    Sick Gold Fish

One of my Gold Fish in a 20G tank is spending a lot of time at the bottom, including the mornings. Been this way for 3 weeks. I do regular water changes, feed well and also ensure not to overfeed. This fish looks really obese fat in the butt region. Also her hind fin a little bit more extended...

    Enjoying Fish Again.

At the start of my hobby, several had suggested that I add just one or two fish to this 20G tank. Now, I see how true that was. Maintenance time has tired me so much and has almost made me drop my hobby. However, I am glad that I downsized to my correct capacity for all the otehr pets/fish I...

    Enjoying Fish Again.

This is very true. Thank you for your kind words and encouragement. Actualy having lesser fish is great. The upkeep is a lot lesser. Moreover, should I have a lot of stress from other sources, I can always relax with my fish now. Vijay :)

    Enjoying Fish Again.

I gave one of my friends a 20G tank that I had day before yesterday. Also gave him the tank gravel, some plants, two minnows and a guppy. This has greatly created a lot of breathing space in my living room making it more comfortable. For a long time I didn't admire my fish as keeping them had...

    Poor Ethics - Abandoned Fish.

All living beings must not be forgotten. It is our higher responsibility to them, specially if we keep them as pets. This is just my opinion. Besides, it appears that this person stayed in the apt. for long and has had these fish for 3 years or so. To abandon such long companions in such a...

    Poor Ethics - Abandoned Fish.

I live in an Apartment Complex. Recently, someone movedout of one of the Apartments. He left two angelfish, very beautiful and pretty inside a small plastic box with water and just enough space for them to have air to breathe. Each fish is about the size of an adult palm !!! The fish seemed to...

    Gold Fish not eating.

My GF started eating again a few days ago. Recently with Wind Chill, temp. locally got down to close to -50C. On those days, it was great to come home and see my GF tank even if only briefly. Helped to forget the snow and flyaway to a tropical paradise. Vijay

    Gold Fish not eating.

I knew that certain things were important such as more frequent water changes. However, I started delaying them and hoping that my fish would be OK. When maintenance is neglected, becomes a chore then one can't let the fish suffer. Agreed that pets are very, very addictive. In this modern world...

    Gold Fish not eating.

You are very correct. I jumped in with too much too fast. I am bold enough to admit it now. Apart from the fish, I also had a hamster and 3 finch that I returned to the pet store after much reflection about two months ago. Presently, I also have 5 parrots (Tiels, budgies and parrotlets) ...

    Gold Fish not eating.

There was no filter on this tank for a long time. I just added the filter. I only did a partial water change. Actually there was a lot more harmful waste at the bottom and cleaning it seems to be quite a good thing. I actually did this in stages at intervals of about a week or so. Thanks for...

I have 3 GF in a 20G Tank. One of them is not eating, staying at the bottom but swimming ok. Please assist. Background info. 1: I had 3 gold fish in a poor tank. No filtration or air, no gravel cleaning as it was planted. Water changes every two weeks. About a two weeks ago they started...

    Sick Gold Fish.

Thank you for your kind words. Now I will never forget this lesson and pay extra caution with all my fish. I am very glad I quarantined him soon as he fell sick tho. That way atleast he was not disturbed by his tank mates. Moreover, the 20G tank water was not polluted by him. Here is a basic...
