I really recommend you don't try and DIY it, it is full of a really nasty compound that is very toxic and used as a medical disinfectant under very strict supervision and health advice. Plus the costs of DIYing it will probably outweigh the cost of just buying a bottle.
There are two other...
Hi,
Long time no comment from me :).
Is this the reincarnation of the 2.5G unpowered freshwater you had at work?
I remember that from when i was most active on these forums a while ago...
Layout wise if i was being really piccy i would move the rock slightly to the right and the wood...
Yup Riccia is a real PITA. I've got HC in my 10L and was really enjoying it until it melted when the dosing failed to keep up with the growth. I'm contemplating boosting my Tropica TPN+ mix with a touch more NO3 as I hear HC is nitrogen hungry.
I had a marselia species in my main tank a couple...
Hi,
In the earlier pictures...
That is a CO2 drop checker. It tells me that the CO2 in the tank is in the target range.
Light green is 30 ppm CO2.
Yellow is above 30ppm and too much.
Blue is below 30 ppm CO2 and too little.
You can use tank water and a few drops of the reagent to use the...
Thanks for all the comments so far, that is me up to date with photos of the recent changes. The scape is actually finished now with this final version. I've even given it a name.
The Dark Place
Due to the big black hole in the base of the "tree" where monsters lurk.
In the future I think i...
Hi,
I've got this dinky Dennerle 10L nano tank that ive been using for aquascaping experiments.
Here are some of the results.
Last couple of pics are the latest setup.
Best Regards,

Hi,
I see your point. It could be my camera too, i still dont know how to use it yet.
I'm slowly changing the layout to a more open scape by constantly dividing the Dwarf Soft Rush (Blyxa Japonica) to try and fill out the carpet. But since i'm working in borderline light and the sensitive...
Hi,
A couple of changes on this tank since my last updates. I've switched the filter over to a Dennerle nano filter with spraybar. It is custom made for shrimp tanks to avoid sucking up little shrimplets.
I also stumbled apone the lovely Dennerle pressurized CO2 kit which i just had to try...
Hi,
This question may fall a little on unknowing eyes as most of you guys are based in the US but have any of you had any experience with the german manufacturers Dennerle and their substrate systems?
I've just picked myself up a really cute 10L nano with complete fittings and am musing...
Hi,
Last update for a while on this one as i've worked out where i want everything to settle finally. I did a bit of reading on the placement of red plants in mr amano's books and have moved them to try and use them as the "flowers" of my scape.
Everything else is going fine enough the dwarf...
This is my main tank with sits in the corner of my living room.
It has been running for over a year now in it's properly working state.
Has pressurised CO2 with PH monitor, fluvial 305 cannister filter, EI dosing on a 4 rather then 6 day dosing principal due to the lights only being 48w of EHO t5
Hi,
Ok some up to date piccys. Nothing much has changed except things have grown in some more. The Downai has recovered from its time in my big tank without enough light although is a little paler then i remember it being....
I've tweaked the lights from 3 9w arc pods to 2 11w arcadia plant...
nice read, but i might just stick to a limited EI version with the water changes, topping up with soda water during the week and liquid co2.
interesting stuff thou. i am a touch confused by their solutions however.
they mention calcium as a needed component, which as i know comes in the...
Without giving too much away the new project is 4 small tanks with liquid co2 no occupants. I'm figuring that the nutrient uptake is going to be slower then normal EI needs, like my shrimp tank, so as long as i get the ratios right nothing should bottom out. Peak levels are not going to be too...
Hi,
I'm making a new project and am just sorting out the dosing. I bought a bunch of blue small bottles used in the perfume industry for the fert mixtures for my 5.5 G shrimp tank and have two left over.
I'd like to use them for my new project but with only two left i just wanted some...
Hi,
I've been flicking through my set of Amano aquascaping books in the last few days for some inspiration for a new project ive got coming up.
I've never been into discus before but WOW that man really loves to give them a happy home that actually leads to them breeding etc.
I don't know...
