    Fire-bellied newts vs Fantail goldfish

I used to have some salamanders and I would place some frozen brine shrimp on a small flat rock just above the water line. (They would also ate slow bugs and grubs.) Your newts only compition then will be the fiddler crab, and the gold fish will clean up any leftovers that get pushed into the...

    kuhli loaches

I had bought three, but their tank crashed a year ago and only one kuli and a few of my fish survived. They did love to play together when I had the 3 and now with only one he spends more time hiding. I thought to get 4 more, to make 5 total. I'm just worried about the bioload of my tank. They...

    kuhli loaches

I get mine from my lfs, a great place in Portland Or called The Wet Spot. I've had it for 3 1/2 years now, and having moved him from my 10g to a 30g, I thought I might even get him a few more friends. I have no idea how long they can live but mine shows no sign of being short lived.

I just scared the poo out of myself!!!

What a reward for doing a good deed! My sw tank looks awful at the moment too, with all of the rocks I just took out. I plan to move soon and am just going to leave it as is until I do. And I am going to get a bigger tank so I figuare why keep messing with it, maybe see if what is left in there...

I just scared the poo out of myself!!!

Wow that would definitely suck. Last time my heater cracked I was lucky enough to notice it and unplug it before I stuck my hand in. Did that happen to you today? I'd hate to get shocked like that but my son did. Not that this is fish related, but, this summer my son was electrocuted. He was...

I just scared the poo out of myself!!!

I thought that I would come back and mention that I still have not had any awful reaction. THank God. I was scared all day that all of a sudden something would happen. But I am okay. What's wrong with it's size? I used to have 2 or 3 big bristle worms. I'm not sure cause they stretch so...

I just scared the poo out of myself!!!

I was just cleaning out my tank, barehanded, stupid I know, and I touched a bristleworm. Having read up on them when I first discovered them (I have 2 that stretch out to about 9" and I saw a 1" one a week ago), I found that their bristles can be toxic and with some extremely painful. I about...

    de-feathered feather duster

I am not sure of what kind they are other then hermits. I had thought they were little red legged ones, But when I saw them walking around in my tank their legs seem to be a bit longer then the average, and they are all brown with darker brown stripes. My peppermint shrimp likes the taste of...

    de-feathered feather duster

I've had this feather duster for about 4 months now. Two days ago I introduced 5 new hermits (my shrimp ate 2 so it is three now). They discovered the feather duster and atleast one has been munching on the casing every time I check on them. Today it lost its crown. The crown is wedged in a...

My Lucky Tadpoles~Going to change to 29g Diary

SO, not enough of the tadpoles are surviving. I started with about 200 eggs and we are down to 6 frogs and about 10-15 tadpoles. Such is the nature of tadpoles, only the strong survive. I am going to put them in a 10g. Which leaves me with a 29g, planted, and the only thing in it are snails...

    MY PEPPERMINT SHRIMP HAS EGGS

I kinda figuared on it. I have no room to do a hatchery/ refugium/whatever. Too bad for the shrimp. Atleast the fish will be happy!

    MY PEPPERMINT SHRIMP HAS EGGS

I'm so excited! I've only had them for a month. I have them in a 12g nano. Them, 2 blue-green cromis, a handful of hermits and snails and some soft corals. It looks like she has around 200 eggs! Is there any chance of a few surviving? What can I feed them if they do hatch? Is there anything I...

My Lucky Tadpoles~Going to change to 29g Diary

The water level I kept low to help the filter get some more water flow into the corner. Taking a hob from a ten gallon and trying to get the water flowing in all of the corners is not easy. The power of gravity gives the water coming out some more oooomph. I wanted to wait until my next payday...

My Lucky Tadpoles~Going to change to 29g Diary

Hi everybody. I just bought the biggest tank I've ever owned off of some really cool people on craigslist. Why? 'Cause my poor littles tadpoles' tank busted! So, I have been checking out a whole bunch of the planted diaries on here and I was impressed with the dedication and love that you...

    Babies!!

I had a guppy that took three days to have all her fry. She was the only female in there so i am sure they were all hers. She had like 30+ of them. She was an older one, I'd had her around 2 years and she was about 2 1/2" long. We called her Big Mamma :) Sadly a couple of monthes ago (her...

I'm told my new feather-duster is trying to reproduce...

Some of these strands were like 9 or 10 inches when they caught each other and twined together. I've seen a few worm looking things in the ls but nothing big enough to secrete what I saw. I'm not sure what a spaghetti worm is but my 12 year old neighbor says she's not gonna eat spagetti any more...
